SAVING ROOSECOTE RACEWAY
save a fiver and a tenner!
Better news about Barras track...

GRAND SLAM… Sunday 23rd April 2006. UNLIMITED BANGERS.

Following a very productive and positive Committee meeting last night, I am pleased to inform everyone that Barrow is
going to run this season.
There will however be some inevitable changes that will take place and are not open to negotiation.

As most of you are aware, the subject of track insurance has become a fundamental ingredient to our sport. The present
"No win, No fee" culture that we live in today has even affected our Hobbies, pleasures and pastimes. I personally
believe that it will not end here. I think the problem will grow to an extent that the "Contact" will become a thing of
the past, in the not too distant future.

However, let's not look too far ahead, let's take what we have and make the most of it.

The Committee have worked feverously, telephoning, number crunching, debating and arguing all of the foreseeable
barriers to a successful season. Mallo with the calculator and Rog with his socks and shoes off have come up with
viable proposals on finances.
Trev Wright has been the driving force on the negotiations with the insurers. Along with the other members of the
committee, who have dedicated their time and effort to this problem; deserve heaps of praise and credit. Also note
that the majority of these people are Drivers.
Well that's enough of the back slapping. But well done all.

Onto the serious business of the "PLAN"

For the drivers.
Annual Licences will not be available for 2006. All drivers will race with Day Licences at a cost of £15 per driver
(All Classes).
Domestic Class drivers will as usual have to register to retain their number and receive a newly devised periodic
newsletter. Registration fee is £5. This option is also available to fans that do not drive, but feel they wish to
assist the club in its efforts to continue racing.

The introduction of two new classes will lift the income from drivers. Outlaw Stock Cars will return to Barrow for a
full championship season, and Super Bangers have been given the go ahead. It is thought that these two classes will
not affect the current driver base.

For the Spectators
The cost of entry will rise to
Domestic's £7 Adults, £4 Children/OAP's and Under 10 years old Free.
Unlimited £8 Adults, £4 Children/OAP's and Under 10 years old Free.
Team Meeting. £10 Adults, £4 Children/OAP's and Under 10 years old Free.
(Please note that all Under10's must be accompanied by an Adult)

As said earlier, these measures are not open to discussion; they have been agreed by the club, who feel them absolutely
necessary if we are to continue.
We apologise to those who feel that because of these increases, they can no longer support us.
There are some other schemes in the pipeline regarding fundraising events. Most of these have been organised by Rog
720, and I'll leave it to him to abuse this fine forum and blatantly advertise his ideas.

Our gratitude for the help and support through this difficult time.
It only remains for me to say, See you on April 23rd
GRAND SLAM UNLIMITED BANGERS.

Trev
(Driver formerly known as)
Grandad 231

cheers trev, best put them socks back on now i think.. phewww... lol right first off ... id personally on behalf of Barrow's Comitee and everyone involved with the track, like to thank 666 andy penington of warton committee who has VERY kindly donated a mk2 granada for raffling off with all proceeds going towards helping barrow survive. The tickets will be £5 a ticket and will be available from myself at next weeks AGM (wednesday at the soccer bar- wilkie road , barrow), Barrows opening meeting - the Grand Slam on Sunday 23rd april or in person wherever you can catch me. Im also looking into opening a paypal account for the track so that anyone who i dont' meet or greet' can also participate if they so wish. ill post details of this on this thread once this is established with full details of how it works and what to do. Andy or his better half, Debs will be selling tickets at Warton's practise day this weekend and also their easter meeting as below. If anyone also wishes to donate to help our club financially then they can also do so by this facility, or at any of the mentioned meetings on this message and ill send them details of the ammount of tickets they have. just think- even if you dont race or dont want to race the car, you can always sell it- granadas are in high demand these days so by being generous in one hand to help barrow you could be making a nice earner in the other! the draw will be made at the interval of Barrow's grand slam meeting on 23rd of april, and the winner notified by phone or email or whichever other details they have given us as soon as possible if they are not there on the day. collection from andy's yard - (approx 1/4 off j27 m6) then to be arranged by winner once they have been established. (if your 100's of miles away its not a problem- im sure it could be sold on very easily to raise yourself cash or maybe even a supremely generous donation to the club?) another option is for a fee to be negotiated by the winner with ourselves(somewhere in the region of £100)- for the car could to be collected and built to race at barrow if they so choose- all proceeds going back to the club again. Id also like to thank Warton as they have very kindly let us run a 2nd raffle at their opening meeting, the Easter Speed Weekend on Sunday April 16th, with many various prizes (inc. a season pass for a spectator at barrow amongst many other things) which i will announce nearer the time as im still sorting this aspect out. anyone wishing to donate a prize towards the raffle just let me know- we'd be very greatfull! if anyone has any queries dont hesitate to contact me either via pm on here or email me at rog270@hotmail.com and ill get back to you as soon as i can. if there is any alterations or changes or further information to add i will add to this thread to keep everyone informed. all being well all of this should help boost our struggling track and keep the racing at roosecote raceway. ill end by saying thankyou to all the people whove made this possible so far and also in advance for any donations and raffle tickets buyers also. see you all soon??? Rog 720

So things are looking up :) Us independent tracks need to stick together.. Another track called it a day last week :(

SAVE ROOSECOTE RACEWAY
save a fiver and a tenner!
I have been sent this letter, sent to all Roosecote Raceway members.

Dear Driver/Member,

Following months of uncertainty about the future of Roosecote Raceway, we are now in a position to inform the membership
of our position.

As you were probably aware, our hold up to the start of the 2006 season has been Insurance. Following a year where
insurance claims from oval racing on a national level have been extremely high, the majority of "clubs" like ourselves
have struggled, not only to get insurance cover, but also cover that is affordable and financially viable.

After weeks of hard work we have now received a Quote for 12 months cover.
Sadly the problems do not stop there. The quote is substantially greater than that of last year, but is without doubt
the best on offer at this time.
We now find ourselves in a situation where decisions have to be made by not only the committee, but you the
Driver/Member of Roosecote Raceway.
To that aim, we have recalled the Annual General Meeting to be held on:
Wednesday 29th March 2006 at 7-00pm.
At The Soccer Bar, Wilkie Road, Barrow. (Next to Asda)

Prior to that, on Wednesday 22nd March 2006, a committee meeting will be held to attempt to second interested parties
onto the committee.

At the present time, the club is, to put it in layman's terms, on its knees, not only from a financial standpoint, but
also from manpower, motivational and inspirational angles. And with all the will in the world, without help from you
the member, the 2006 season will NOT happen.
To give you some indication of the problems that face us:
Licence fees for all classes will be in the region of £75. That amount is only on the condition that at least 70-90
drivers register at the AGM. Unfortunately, this is not a bartering subject. It is mathematically required to function.
Should we be successful in drawing 90 drivers to the AGM to register, then the insurance issues will be resolved.
An alternative proposal would be to do away with licence fees and charge on a meeting by meeting basis. This would
probably be in the region of £15 per driver, per meeting. We would have to attract at least 50 drivers to each meeting
across 5 classes. That would be a minimum of 10 cars per class average. We, the committee feel it is possible, but the
decision is entirely yours.

Furthermore, the 2005 season was so poorly subscribed by drivers and spectators alike, that the financial people in the
club spent most of the year trying to keep our heads above water. To function well, we must become financially solvent,
meaning that money received as income, must be in the same ball park as the money we need to run a meeting. We are not
so interested in making profit, we just want to ensure that the bills are paid and that Motor Racing continues at
Roosecote Raceway.

If you are interested in seeing and helping racing continue at Roosecote Raceway, I urge you to attend the AGM.
We the committee will continue to act on your behalf whenever possible, but without any of the above being achieved,
the committee would recommend the closure of the club.

On behalf of Roosecote Raceway

Trevor Whelan

So there you go. I hope that this problem can be sorted and this track at Barrow can keep on racing in 2006 & beyond...

Loadsa stuff
Team Meeting is back on.. Horrah
Note the new button above.

The lad hurt in the Ministox is ok just got a bad whiplash injury.. # 231 Robert Bradley will return. Im pleased to hear that too :)

The presentation dance is going to be on 11th November (subject to room being available), so as not to clash with either Children in Need or Champion of Champions.

We are having a 10on10 with Buxton this year. Our leg is on 14th May and the Buxton leg on 30th July (hopefully they won't have snow that day). We need ten drivers and we are hoping to race in Warton Wreckers colours.

The support class for WARton of the Roses is Stock Cars and the Supers are supporting the Team Meeting, this way every class gets to support a major banger meeting.

5th March 2006
Great stuff
MMV gone and more to come next year ..
I did enjoy myself today, the weather was bearable and the racing was top notch. The Ministox provided some stunning racing between # 93 Lil Saint and # 138 David Kellett in heat two and the final. Best wishes to the Ministox driver hurt in the Final.

The Bears and Team Black don't seem to be good mates, that brought us some intresting action and wrecks.

Photos to go up NOW.

27th Feb 2006

As you must have noticed by now Ministox are the support formula.

The regestration meeting is on Wednesday 1st March at ex-Servicemens Club at Carnoforth (8PM) same place as the awesome A.G.M. was at.

Xbox games at reduced prices too, as well as PSP & Gamecube. As I am still working nights at ASDA, I'm not as rich as before and need to sell as many games as possable to fund this site and developing costs of my photos.

2nd Feb 2006
Keeping you in the loop
MMV coming soon
Right then, last night was the new committee's first meeting and things are going in the right direction.
Here is a statement from the committee:
"We have had an insurance quote and are awaiting two more. We will then choose the best one.
The premiums are higher, so unfortunately, the membership costs have to rise to £60 per member before the end of March. From April 1st it will £75 each and there will be NO installment membership (this is due to the system being abused in 2005)
The registration meeting has been MOVED to the 1st March, so there is no meeting next Wednesday."

We will announce more details regarding the insurance as soon as we get it :)

Civil War 7 Result
Civil War 7 wreckage
OK so its now 5-2, They won, but thats not important, it was an awesome days racing, which is not unsual for the Civil War., A big thank you to Andy Swain and his brother, who gave me a lift down and back, splitting the feul cost and reducing the risk of me having an accident after working a night shift and going straight there. Only one of our drivers got a little carried away, and both # 512 Allan Woods and Shovy had marvelous finals, Allan was so awesome I actually left the track to shake his hand in in the pits.. Anyhow I'm Knacked and need to sort the pix... and a video too :)

The Letter
This will be happening in 2006...
This is 'The Letter' being sent out to Club Members. This affects almost all short oval tracks.

Dear Member,

Due to circumstances beyond our control with Insurance Underwriters we inform you that at this time Warton Stock Car
Club, along with other clubs, has no longer any valid insurance to cover our Racing Activities. The committee are
addressing this problem and we should be in a position to give further information at the AGM. It is imperative for
the well being of the club that you attend this meeting; along with any other interested party e.g. Day Drivers as
serious and far reaching decisions may have to be made.

Yours sincerely,

Warton Stock Car Club

Thats all the info we can give at the moment, though Graham is working hard to rectify this problem ASAP.. Its serious, but don't panic.

There will be no booking in list until for MMV until after the AGM. This is for various reasons.

3rd Jan 2006
Lets get on with it
Oooh look cars racing :)
It seems you all like the new look, and WARton of the Roses.. I never planned it to replace The Team Meeting and, if I get voted back onto the committee, I will see if we can still have a Team Meeting. I have spoken to a WARton capatain who informs me that the Lancs team is coming on really strongly.. No news from the Yorks capatian as of yet. Don't forget you can get yourselves on the teams if you e-mail me. I can pass on your request, like Metal Mania its an open meeting, no points for championship and anyone can race at them, even banned drivers (oh ain't we generous).

There are still a few buttons that don't work in the left hand margin, but I am getting round to it asap. NOTE the Chatroom, very underused at the moment, it does NOT need a room password, you only need regesiter a nickname and personal password. Theres plenty to chat about at the moment, so get on there, say about 8PM onwards... Thats all for now, time for my beddy bye byes, well it is almost 11AM !!

1st Jan 2006
Happy New Year
Oooh look cars racing :)
So Warton Stock Car Club starts another year hoping to recreate the success in 2005. The 2005 season started badly with the Metal Mania incident.. But things improved with record numbers in Ministox and Super Bangers. Following a follow in ban towards the end of the season, they too increased in numbers. The committee also aproved major refurbishment of the track wall.

The A.G.M is on Wednesday 25th Jan 2006 and the nominees for the committee are :
Norman Fryer
Graham Hayhurst
Gerald Hoggarth
Paul Naylor
Andy Pennington
Mike Creighton
Tony (SnOrK) Porter
Jill Farrington Knowles
Andy Swain

It seems that there was a mistake with Normans report in the last programme. He has sent the report that should have been printed. He said that they printed the wrong one of two sent... Its in the NOTICES section. Lets play spot the differences, its like a photo spot the difference, but with words.

Please note not all the links in list on left work yet. I have been too busy at work to get it sorted.. Sorry!

All Nov-Dec 2005 news and the whole 2005 site are in the ARCHIVE section.
