Fancy crashing n not getting hurt ? Bought 10/09/04
I have died and gone to game heaven.. Burnout was a very good game (review in PS2 section) Burnout 2 was better, much better (Burnout2 review also in PS2 section) .... Burnout3... BURNOUT 3 Takedown to give it its full title!!! this is a whole new level of perfection... I cannot find a single fault with this game at all..

Plus points:

  • Its VERY VERY FAST
  • It rewards you QUICKLY for success
  • The smashes are in GLORIOUS SLOW MO, that you control (though u can disable this feature--You'd be mad too)
  • There are loads of tracks and cars to unlock, you also get to play reverse tracks early too
  • Soundtrack and effects are great, smashing glass is the only thing that makes you forget your not watching bangers or super bangers.
  • The CRASH NAV is superbly presented.. (the bit that lets you travel from continant to continant, track to track, race to race)
  • The tracks and other cars are just right, you can win first time, but not everytime..
  • The computer controlled cars panic and crash if you tailgate them, though not all the time.
  • EVERY graphic is perfect and theres even speed blur at edge of screen when going full belt. Buildings reflect of the cars, even when crashing and even distort as cars bend and buckle.
  • The Boost is well thoughtout, gets bigger everytime you take out an apposing car, goes down when they take revenge out on you.
  • Objects like cones and crowd barriers fly if you hit them, and are still missing next lap.
  • Loads of race options, from just winning, Survival, one on one, wrecking and two player!!

    Minus points:

  • Not everyone who likes racing games has it yet...

    I have played it now for about six hours and I have :

  • Unlocked a shedload of tracks
  • Unlocked two continants, though only raced in USA so far
  • Earned 8 trophies
  • Unlocked 21 cars
  • Earned 4 signature takedowns
  • Done six takedowns in one race at Downtown Northbound
  • Had a drift of 1081 on Lakeside Getaway Southbound
  • Had 3498ft on ONCOMING traffic in the Kings of the Road Westbound track
  • Acheived 119 Global Takedowns (where you force the other racers to crashout)
  • Earned 101,000 Global Burnout Points
  • Had a ruddy good larf....

    If yer posh, you can race online with both PS2 and XBOX versions.. Sounds fun, but Im a cheapskate! Some might find this game difficult or even frustrating, but if its non arcade racing your after get Richard Burns Rally, or wait for new Gran Turismo game to come out.. If you want a game thats fun, challenging, fun, fast, fun, action packed and fun.. THEN BUY THIS!!!
