It was the first proper club meeting for an age.. and it was great to see a full pit again, even if
at one point the sea looked like it was going to take over the whole of the pits. The weather was OK, some rain, after
a few days of nice weather, it was bound to be crap today :). Nice to see so many spectators and drivers
aswell. Even TMK had brought a few cars.. No Invaders tho.. they were away playing elsewhere.
Dan & Dean Steele put in apperances and we were all set for some action...
MiniStox Heat ONE A few new faces, including 123 Stephen Hoggarth in 990 Keiron Brookes old, and mighty,
mini. There was a new mini and old driver in the form of 101 James Hayhurst, not blue but red this season. Old faces with 555 Martin Yeates
, 343 Lee Wrennall, 18 Andrew Molloy and 116 Chris Turner.. We were off and the 10 cars flew away..
well most of them anyway. 18 Andrew Molloy was out early after a coming together, but the highlight was an
awesome battle between 555 Martin Yeates and 101 James Hayhurst.. It was nip and tuck for lap
after lap, until James' car died. Martin took the win, 161 Nicholas Isles-Heardman got an impressive second with
554 Lee "Roadrunner" Williams in third.
Bangers Heat ONE After a false start, they all got away, TMK had two Jags, no not Tony Prescott,
one was driven by 666 Andy Pennington , the other was the Duck in 149. Team V had two motors, one
was the wreck that had been a Jag XJS and the other was a Grannie. 41 Dan Steele had an unpainted
Grannie as survived for ages.. 666 Andy got a little narked after his Jag was wasted by Team V, "After it
had been effin standing for ages".. It ended up in a right scrapyard with 394 Andrew Thompson, 266 Alan Roskill
294 Will Scott and 145. Young Rick Ball, 2, had a great hit on 41 Dan Steele, Rick in his first adult
banger race at Warton was in a smart Jag.. Both cars continued. Dan Steele was punted in the wall
on the last lap by Team V's 340. Dan got the win with 340 second and Rick Ball an impressive third.
11 cars came out for Unlimited Minis Heat ONE 62 David Eccles had a nice new paint job, and
agian there were new faces. Ste Smith just drove straight from the back of the grid, where gold tops
have to start, to the lead in under two laps. Few finished as many fell to the trackside. Ste won,
134 Alex Chapman got second, 62 David Eccles was third.
18 cars for Super Bangers Heat ONE !!! I was impressed. The highlight was 828 Darren Marshall
spinning in his Rover and spending most of the race facing the wrong way in the middle of the track
at the far corner exit...22 span out on the pit corner causing a minor blockage, all got going again.
316 Jason Ollernshaw had left his banger at home and was in the thick of it with the Supers.. 57 Steven Hardy
won in the ever impressive Escort, 109 got second and 439 Jay "Rodder" Kellett got third.
Stock Cars Heat ONE and another impressive turnout, 17 cars gave good entertaiment , with spins galore
including one from 313 Wilf Speak.. 4 "Rodder" won with 5 Jonathan Clarkson second and 67 Peter Fawcett third.
MiniStox Heat TWO 343 Lee "happy" Wrennall and 116 Chris Turner had rough sounding engines before
the race started. Chris went out before the start. 101 James Hayhurst lost a wheel, he waved it
goodbye before losing his temper and kicking his new car, bad boy!!.The race was won by mr happy Lee Wrennall
and Martin 555 Yeats came second with 161 Nicolas too long surname another impressive third!!! But the action
ahd not finished, no Master James Newby, 308, rolled his ministox on the cool down lap. He hadn't realised
that he'd rolled.. Impressive to say the least, one to watch :)
21 for the Bangers Heat TWO 431 Deano Steele was out in a bubbly estate.. The rain had arrived and
things were slippy out there.. 500, Ste Basher Kayes mate, went out early after being spun and hit on the
start/finish straight. Deano got a shove from 318 all the way down the S/F straight, then
Deano got a hit from another green car! Deano kept going and even 439 Jay "Rodder" Kellett got
stuck in, losing his passenger doorskin.. Bullit had a head on with a spinning car and was out, at least his car was
straight this time! The race ended with wrecks all over the place. I missed the top three finishers
as I had to go and check my car was not floating in the Irish Sea!!
The car was Ok and we were ready for the Unlimited Mini Heat TWO 134 Alex Scofeild hit the
far corner wall with the back of his car, but still got second place behind the flying 44 Ste Smith
and ahead of 62 David Eccles.
Supers Heat TWO A bit of argy bargy at the pit bend, in which a car was launched ontop
of another.. but car 14 took off and couldn't stop., later on. He flew on the infeild on the S/F straight
and lept toward me accross the gap and hit the inner wall hard, he stopped very quickly and
I had to get him help as he was not moving. He later got out and staggered to the St Johns Ambulance,
and it seemed he was just heavilly winded, I later saw him driving his van home, his car in tow, on the
M6.. Still I bet he will be sore in the morning.
After the restart the win was again taken by the Escort of 57 Steven Hardy with 30 Paul Jarman and
109 following.
Stock Cars Heat TWO and an excellent race, for 237 Stuart Lawrenson, in an orange midgit
Stockie.. Tho the win was for that car 4 again of "Rodder", 251 and 237 Ben Schofeild were near his rear
The Bangers Consolidation saw a very bent Team V Jag XJS come out, how the hell that thing
still moved I will never know!! Mind you he had the Duck of TMK attached to his arse.. (that should drag a few porn
people in from search engines :) I was expecting revenge for the mess that the Jag made of Andy's Jag earlier.. Nope
the Duck span out the Jag, he got beached and that was that.. mind you Mr Paul Duck man nailed
148 into the pit gate.. The ever smiling 491 John "Mr Grumpy" Mason kept going, dispite running
on his rear rim almost the whole race!. 48 Kevin Chadwick took the chequered flag in his oddly roofed
motor, with 149 The Duck and 767 following.
After a short break we were back for the MiniStox Final 12 lined up and 101 had to contend with steam from his engine almost
the whole race.. He was not a happy bunny, that said he was less happy after failing to finish after
an incident with some other cars, including 505 young Daniel Canavan. The finish was almost predictable
343, 555, 116... That was that :)
Supers FINAL 13 started and 802 Graeme "Captian" Black had an attack of the Mysterons and
got a punchure.. Jay Spun out that bloody Escort of 57 for the lead.. then Jays engine blew (F1 style).
The Varleys took advantage and got first with 21 Simon and second with Phil number 9. 57 Steven Hardy
kept going and got third.
Banger FINAL and it was an alcomers final.. 21 started 1 finished!! Dan & Dean Steele both
started this race, its been too long since we have seen these two race together at Warton. deano didn't last long. He got well and
truly wedged in with a right mess around him. It all begain early on when a load all went into
the far bend wall. He was getting out when 11 Jeff Pratt was clobbered into him by a Team V car..
Big Al joined in and 352 parked up next to them.. Let the jacking commence! 352 got mullered hard by
a mate of Dave.. It may have been Dave himself, eitherway it was an awesome hit! Dan got stuck in the mess and got a shove from
TNT driver 151. Dan got through by himself and cleared the way for the rest. Only about 4 were
still going. They all gave chase to Dan. 151 was dispatched by Dan.. 491 Mr Grumpy almost got
mounted by Dan as Mr Grumpy left the race. Dan was the last car running, he therefore won. That was
it nothing else.. No more It finished, no one was second!
Unlimited FINAL 44 Ste Smith was out before the race started.. It seemed he was hit from
behind and that was that for him. 110 went out after hitting the corner inner wall, giving me a
second heart attack of the day! 134 Alex Chapman won, 26 Shaun Yeats second, Andy Yeats third.
It was a 14 Stock Car FINAL Three cars came out badly in three seperate incidents on
the first lap, 107, 612 and 313. Car 4 lost his bumber after a big hit on the far corner wall..
and car 5 Jonatahn Clarkson was in the thick of a pile up on the last corner of the last lap.
65 Nathan Lawson won, 237 Stuart Lawrenson and 584 followed him.
Grand Nationals I will explain what these are now. The winner of the final starts at
the front of the grid, but is deemed to be a lap down. Therefore they have to unlap themselves
to get points and even win the race. There are three Grand Nationals (GN) one in Stock Cars,
Super Bangers and Ministox
MiniStox GN 18 Andrew Molloy took out 343 Lee "Happiness" Wrenall, only cause Lee drove into
the abanoded car of Andrew. 116 Chris Turner won, 555 Martin second and 3 Shaun Twist third.
Super Bangers GN 801 had a bad race, he was winning most of it, but was also having a
sauna at the same time. His engine lost power and as he struck his steering wheel, he ended up third.
274 David "Ex Unlimited Mini" Christopher won, 109 got second place :)
Stock Car GN 317 Billy "I don't want to change the world" Bragg got two punchures and was out
and car 65 of Will Ball span and sat in the middle of the track where he watched 251 cruise to victory
Banger Mechanics and a massive arguement between three drivers and officails about who
did or didn't hit/follow in/jack who and why.. It rather spoilt the race.
DD This was very funny. The Duck and Deano played cat and mouse with Tank 196 in the fray.
Eventually the Duck stopped and Deano and Tank battled slowly. It was like watching tortoises
trying to ram each other to death!!! Eventually deano gave up and Tank was declaired the winner..
And that was it.. a great day which more than made up for the mess of a fortnight ago.
No compliants from me though I suppose that TMK will moan like babies :)
