What a day it was.. If you wanted action you got it, even a vist by the Air Ambulance to take
#555 Martin Yeates to hospital after his nasty crash to A: See if he was OK B: Find out if he had a brain
C: Find the secret that makes women swoon when they see him. Answers are A: He was OK, just bruised and peed
off that his roof had been cut off (He will be stiff for a few days, I know the feeling, being a
passenger in a bread van, bouncing around, makes me stiff) B: Nope no brain, just a bizzare hat
C: Can't be his body, must be his personallity!.
That said Martin had a promising start to the day, with a win in heat one after a tussle with #343
Lee Wrennall, who had to pull up late on in the race, #18 Andrew Molloy did aswell. There was
a ministox, with no bottom side pannels on it, it was very bizzare and he had a spin, and did a three
point turn in the exit of the far corner! I suggest he nip through the infield and redo the corner
next time! Young #101 James Hayhurst came in second and #230 David Harrison had a great third place.
Heat two, Lee Wrennall run away with it but the action was for second place, #101 James Hayhurst
had a great scrap with #555 Martin Yeates, they bumped and bashed each other, swapping positiom
on almost every corner... It ended in disaster as, on the far straight, James hit Martin in the
rear, as he had done most of the race, Martin slid, without slowing, straight into the far corner,
but unlike the Unlimited Mini last meeting (that almost rolled absorbing the impact) Martins car
hit square... It did not look a serious crash and I went to him, with others, and he seemed OK.
I even told Lee that he was.. But as he tried to exit his car he got servere pain in his back.
St Johns were called and the roof cut off his car and Martin was later air lifted to hospital.
It took a while to extract him, but its better to be safe than sorry, you can fix cars, but
Martin is beyond repair... ERM you know hat I mean. The result was given to Lee as the winner
James second and the ever improving #161 Nick I-S third! Thankfully the final went off without
incident and the same result as in heat two. #492 young Dan Hurst almost rolled in the Grand National
and and we had another red flag as #93 Sam Twist had a shunt. James 101 Hayhust took the win,
#161 Nick Isles Heardman second, I said he was improving :)
The other Minis, as in unlimited, had a noticable absentee, #44 Ste Smith, he'd got a Metro
for the bangers. I wondered who, if anyone, would take advantage of the situation. #62 Dave
Eccles made a good start winning the first heat, though he lost a lap in the final.
He hit a stranded #125 Wayne Palmer, who then got going and drove off!! The result was the
same in both the final and heat two.. #25 Andy Yeats, #134 Alex Chapman and #26 Shaun Yeats.
In the Supers we the return to form of nasty Mr Hardy, in his super Escort, he won both the
first heat and Final getting second in heat two. Jay #439 Kellett had a mixed day, getting a second
and a third and sustaining suspension damage in the final. #34 Leon Jarman broke his suspension
too, in heat one and as in the wars again in heat two.. DC #274 had a better day, he got a win
in heat two and a second in the final. #244 Martin Makim and #9 Phil Varley both got thirds, in
the first heat and final respectfully :)
What a day the Stocks had! It was chaos from race one, right through to seven not finishing in the
final.. #234 Jason Lord was the first to spin, oh Lordy.. His bro, Glenn won in heat one. #107
John Baron second and third was #218 Will 'Nasty Rics bro' Ball.. maybe this should be called
the Brothers class :) #520 did not finish, he lost a wheel. Heat two and the final saw more
slidy action, #218 Will Ball took the Heat two win with #5 Jonathan Clarkson following, #590
Julian Naylor took the final, with #67 Peter Fawcett second and #230 third. #5 Jonathan Clarkson
went one better in the Grand National, yup he won.
Metro bangers were out today. On the lead up to the 26 car final, we saw a nice scrap in heat one
in which Ste Smith, #44, did not win! He was span a few times, yer gotta laff. First lost sub
frame award goes to #144... and first roll went to #181 Chell Crighton. #749 won heat one, #616
got a second with #144 third (must all be day drivers). #42 Steve 'Hung like a Donkey??' Owen
rolled in heat two. A car span out and was hit over and over by the others getting past.. #470
ended up out of the heat. #310 took a victory, #178 and #476 followed, day drivers again ?
As I said before, 26 started in the final, only 5 finished! There was so much action, I missed
loads and saw loads :) the result was #144, #178, #749, #181 Micheal Crighton and #310. Well done
all of you for keeping your cars moving. The DD was another cracker, but sadly ALL my doodles about
it have been ruined, so I will full in the details when I get the piccis back.
