What a day that was, OK the weather was wet, but considering that it was the end of December, what were people expecting?
The action soon hotted things up (Glad my English teacher can't see this grammar) with the Ministox
going at it like bangers.. #18 Andrew Molloy was span out a few times and #161 Nick hyphenated was
spun out once.. New driver #56 Dale Douglas put in a promising show and despite a big pile up featuring other new driver
#124 Luke Hamilton & #131 Mr Jones, the ministox had a good day, #811 Richard Parker won all the races by a huge margin
but the racing was very close for second and third with #101 James Hayhurst claiming the seconds and #18
Andrew Molloy and #161 Nick hyphenated sharing the thirds.
The Unlimited Minis had a poor turnout as #44 Ste 'Champion' Smith & #62 David Eccles were in bangers today.
The brothers Yeats had a go at each other in heat one and the ever chirpy #309 Angela Fryer had a flyer
in the same heat, the car was obviously tweeked for the second heat & final as it went much slower :)
#25 Andy Yeats got two wins and #26 Shaun got one.
4 lady drivers in the Super Bangers.. so the race was going to be 8 laps or two hours, whichever came first!
Phillpa, Michelle and Jill all joined aging racer Ann in these monsters and thankfully the 2 hour
time limit was not needed, in fact #100 Ann Potts was flying winning the heats and getting second in the final..
Phil would be proud of ole mam :) #9 Phil Varley also placed in each race, as did #439 Jay 'Rodder'
Kellett..
Controversy and dummy spitting in heat one of the stocks as BOTH the Lords got docked laps for continuing racing under waved yellow
flags! Neither raced again. Cars #218 Will Ball & #268 were trouble magnets, as in, if there was a crash, near miss or spin, one or the
other was never far away.. I loved it :) #377 Steven Murry was the winner of the day.
The bangers were very impressive with surprising total aggression from #44 Ste 'Total Inialater'
Smith & his Bad News team, inc. #342 Dan Wrennall and #665 Paul 'Tin Ribs' Pennington. Some
great tin today too, inc. Singy and his beast from Firecracker, DAHM Busters stretch Granny,
a nice Black & White Yank Tank #64 and the Les, the oldest TMK driver, in a hearse, just in case :)
Great hits were from #2 'Nasty' Ric Ball (who gave me permission to carry on calling him this)
on #449 Mark 'Bad boy' Thomas from TMK, with a very impressive follow in, that said there were
shed loads of them and young Paul #665 Pennington also found out how hard the wall was, taking off
at one moment, as the long Granny of #651 made the front of Paul's car look like a Dairy lea triangle.
Poor Paul was immediately T-boned/doored by #42 Steven 'Donkey' Owen.. Paul was OK and in the final/DD
he drove another TMK car hard into a stricken #2 Nasty Rick. Rick was still recovering from #449
Paul 'The Duck' Gores impressive hit. #41 Dan Steele was kept under control by being stuck in the many Warton Crushes that we had, though Dan never gave up hope of bashing his way out
of them :) Wrecks of the day belonged to Paul Pennington & Mark Thomas, #178 Bones in a well bent
Granny as was #868 though I fear it was not actually a Granny at the start! The hearse had its rear
reshaped and team parallel parking awards went to TNT & TMK. #728 Paul Robinson ended with a trashed estate and teamates #525
& #528 won the 'How The F**k did you get them racing again awards'.. No question on the crappist/spunkist car .. #150
came out in the consolidation race with his rear wheel dragging 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' styley along
the ground. As to who won what, I have no idea, my notes got ruined, but who cares it was
great to see the bangers back on form at Warton, bring on the Metal Mainia meeting 2nd March at noon, I cannot wait LOL :)
