A few red flags, loads of action in the non contact classes and a fantastic banger day.. Must be
Warton :) #555 Martin Yeates and #343 Lee Wrennall had both had points deducted after it was
found that the engines, in their Ministox, were 'modified' and not legal. I am not a mech head
and have no idea what was wrong with them, despite being shown.. Anyway the lads had a point to prove,
and boy did they.. Lee won BOTH heats, with Martin not too far behind. #101 James Hayhurst was in third
both times :) There was a ciggy paper between all three in the final, first Lee and Martin battled,
Martin fell back a short distance and was under pressure from James Hayhurst, James made a
great pass on the last lap and scraped second placed. In the Grand National it was the three amigos again
with the order Martin, James and Lee in an impressive third (from a lap down). Other drivers of
note were #306 Samantha Newby had either a big mouse on a squeaky wheel under the bonnet, or
the rear tyre was rubbing on the frame. #492 Dan Hurst took his flight last time in good spirit,
he'd written 'Dan Air' on the back of his car :)
In the Unlimited Mini class we had a visitor from Buxton, #22 Phil 'Rhino' Martin, he witnessed
an odd day. In heat one, on the first lap, #134 Alex Chapman took off, and what I saw, seemed to do
an end on end roll. He was taken out of his car, badly bruised and shocked, and taken to hospital.
all this the day before his 20th birthday! Still the restart occurred and another crash, it put out
#110 Paul Beeston, #26 Shaun Yeats and #44 Ste Smith, who lost a rear wheel! #62 Dave 'schmokin'
Eccles had a puncture, but still finished. #25 Andy Yeats went round with the chequered flag, though
Phillippa, the commentator, said that Dave actually won, confused?? I was! Ste had fixed his car for
heat two, and had a massive 'nip & tuck' battle with Dave Eccles. Ste won, by a mini length and #25
Andy Yeats was third.. Ste won the final, though it took half the race to get the lead, #345 Richard pass had
put up a good fight.
The Super Bangers' queen #100 Ann Potts was out in heat one, her car looked knackered, after
a sideswipe from #439 Jay Kellett. Jay was keen and went for gaps so small his car had to
go on two wheels to get through.. #274 Dave Christopher took the win, DC only got third in
heat two, Ann was back on the track, and jay again was cheif pusher & nudger, he blasted past
most people until he came accross #244 Martin Makam, who was having none of it, the cars
hit each other and jay ended up in the wall, out of the race. #317 Billy Bragg took the win with
#57 Steve hardy second. In the final #9 Philip Varley had a big spin, #351 Tut Knowles was King
nudger, king Tut caused a bit of a crash, that ended up with #317 Billy mounted by #244
Martin Makim. #772 Alan Molloy had a snapped suspension and jay blasted through all this
to take the win. #57 Steve Hardy was second, they finished in the same order in the Grand national,
though in 2nd & 3rd, as #274 DC took victory in that race. Steve & Tut had a bit of a spat after
the chequered flag, I'm not sure why..
Stock Cars #777 Jack 'papa' Lord, needed a push of, son, #80 Glenn to get going, and going
he did, all the way to win heat one. #218 Will Ball was second and #5 Jon Clarkson third. Jon took the
win in heat two, after Jack Lord spun out and could not fire up his engine. I, and many others,
was confused in the final as red flags were waved for about 20 seconds. It seemed it followed a flash
fire in a span car at the pit corner. The lap counters kept track of it all and #5 Jon Clarkson took the win. #38
Chris Alderson and #377 Steven Murry also placed. #218 Will Ball won the tightly raced Grand
National, avoiding everything including #58 Malcolm Duckett, who went out early on.
The bangers again caused mayhem around the track, though after a shaky heat one, which Marshall
Tony described as 'nudging & spinning-real banger racing', real banger racing to me is smashing,
bashing and destruction. Only Tommy seemed to get any of that, thanks to TMK's Duck. Steve
Horsefeild won in car #169, with #350 Lee Hird and #149 Paul 'Duck' Gore following. Heat two saw a tasty Granny Limo from
young steve 'basher' Kaye. He got bashed and a Warton crush ensued, Ste was trapped on another
car and showed that perseverance pays off, by getting himself free after about 10 minutes
of trying. Due to the 'crush' the win was given to #512 Allan 'Invader' Woods, as it was deemed
that he was the only driver not to cut trough the infield... Allan also won the Final, despite being knocked
out cold after a big hit from #169, who was trying to bash his way through another Warton Crush.
Every car was in this one, and even Dan Steele could not unwedge himself from the tangled mess
of metal that surrounded him.. A red flag was thrown, after Allen went all limp.. and #767 Colin
'invader' Parr and #297 Tim 'TNT' Nickson were placed second & third. Ste Kayes' limo was not good at the start of the banger Mechanics
race, he did not line up, or start with the rest. Instead he threw it across the track after a couple
of laps. First to tw*t it was #76, driven by Kevin Chadwick, Kev span the limo around and continued
on his way. Next up was Tim Nickson, who ripped off his own wheel and was out, he was clobbered
by the Invaders of #535 Mally and #514 Paul Woods (both at the same time on at each end of his car).
The limo was hit also by #535 Mally, Mally came off the worse again, and after a nudge from Kevin, he
did his stuff on Tim. #169 was given the win and after some frantic, on track, repairs, six cars lined
up for the DD. Mally was well stuffed into the pit corner by #352 Nick Hird. TMK's Duck was given the
win after absolutely destroying the rear of Jason Hewlett's Granny estate. And that was that. More action than in
your fave soap opera. well almost! and coming soon its Robin time :) Becha can't wait :) I will see you all at
the next meeting, tarrar for now
