The meeting of the season so far ???!!! You bet.... :) To say it was awesome does not do it
justice :) The Robins more than lived up to the hype, the Stocks were at it like billio and
the bangers pulled it out at the end :)
I was shocked at the speed of the first heat.. The Ministox were flying... The juniors kept
it clean and #230 was well up with the rest. He got forth place, with #101 James Hayhurst in
third half a lap behind the winner #343 Lee Wrennall and #555 Martin Yeates. A massive pile
up in heat two took out #223 Josie Schofield and #206 Robert Dale, the rest continued and this
time it was Martin with the chequered flag with Lee following, #829 got third and James was forth.
#161 Nick Isle-Heardman had a final that:
A: he'd rather forget
B: shows he has the spirit to be a champion racer one day!
Most juniors, and some adults, would call it a day after having a crash in lap one.... More would
deffo give up after jumping onto the off the infield, that famous 10" concrete ledge. The he
went on two wheels on the pit bend, undertaking another car on the inside and then (I feel like that
woman from 'Dude where's my car'! :)) he got sideswiped on the lap corner of the last lap..
Spunky chap that Nick :) Meanwhile it was Lee, James and Martin who took the top three places.
The Grand National saw #230 getting taken out, and loosing his side panel, early on. Martin got the win
with James second, Lee an impressive third.
In the Unlimited Minis #44 Ste Smith is not getting his own way these days, he won the heats,
by only 1/4 lap in heat one with #25 Andy Yeats and #134 Alex Chapman following him. In heat two
only 4 seconds difference between first & forth.. Ste, #62 Dave Eccles, Andy and Alex :)
The final was not great for Steve, as he went out after going over the powder & water
left over from a fire, but more of that later. Dave Eccles took the win with the Yeats brothers in hot
pursuit.. Andy then Shaun :)
The Super Bangers saw a bit of a fall out between Messer's Knowles and Christopher. It
carried on in various races and laps, the highlight being when DC rearranged Tut's rear in the cool down lap :)
#181 Michael Creighton was back from his holidays and he was inspired, he won BOTH heats and the final.
#351 Tut Knowles and #439 Jay Kellett shared second & third in various heats. One disappointment was
Mr Steve Hardy.. He was very miffed that his tyres get airborne during braking and acceleration,
it seems that 'Its good for the photographer, but bad for racing'.. So now we know :) The Final saw
#317 Billy Bragg loose his front suspension, no danger of that tyre lifting then :). The Grand
national was another great race with a fantastic battle between #21 Simon Varley, #9 Phil Varley and
#802 Graeme Black, sadly it was down the field :( DC took the win with Jay and Tut after him :)
The Bangers had a strange day, nowt much happened in heat one, #340 Jonathan Atkinson won.
Heat two and a huge pile up, it took out most of the field, as or before the green flag was thrown !!
Only two cars survived they being #16 and #300 who, it was deemed, finished in that order! The final
and another big pile up, #149 Paul 'The Duck' Gore and Jonathan had a massive head on, the Duck's Grannie
snapped, with the gearbox resting on the track, along with most of the passenger side! Only 1
car finished, the that burst into flames, causing the dust & water that stuffed Ste Smiths Unlimited
Mini final... The DD was swift(ish) The Ducks car came out again, I was amazed to see it, mind you it was truly
snapped, the diff having a smart 90 degree break in it :) Cars #416 Angus, #666 Andy Pennington and #178
ended up in a wrecking train :) The win was given too, then taken away from, #114, it was all
very odd :)
Not as odd as the Stock Bangers sorry Stock Cars. Heat one was a great race, #5
Jonathan Clarkson took the lead on the last corner, no doubt #717 was a bit miffed to get second.
#372 was third but #911 Peter Kaulbarsch just got hung up on another car at the end :) Heat Two
saw #373 Schmokin like Dave Eccles in the Minis. #80 Glenn Lord was out after ploughing into a pile up..
an early bath for him then:) #373 took the win, #218 Will Ball second and #911 Peter Kaulbarsch
third. There was a third heat, due to the large number of Stocks, #107 John Baron wrote his car
off after the biggest Stock crash I have ever seen! He got a big shove, his the inner wall and went end over end into the
outside wall, landing on his wheels, his car then burst into flames, it took three extinguishers
to put it out, he was OK, just miffed his car was a wreck! To be honest I thought he'd end up in the
massive crowd! The result was given to #330, #5 and #51.
The far corner resembled the stock car pits at times, as many cars went wide and had to wait to rejoin the race.
Nudges & spins a plenty but nothing could stop #5 Jonathan Clarkson from his win, #377 Steven Murray
was second and he was tailed by #330. The Grand National was won on the last lap of a clean
race from #330 by #377 Steve Murray :)
The Robins (pigs), the win was #123's but the race was a scream.. There was a great display of
formation and solo rolling, fibreglass spraying everywhere, and as last times, they were swiftly put
back on their wheels and off racing again :) Champion roller and getter outer and putting back on wheels and driving off, went to #340
Jonathan Atkinson, #143 Sam Begley, the Robin World Champion, managed to get his pig on my island, though
I was not there to panic and run out of the way :). #48, #848, #866 got second to forth place :) It seems that #123 was making
his first visit to Warton and doing rather well, he had the heat two win to add to his heat one one..
Sam went out again, it was not his day, he had been racing the night before in Suffolk and
drove home, fixed his car and come straight to Warton, he was knackered, as was his pig again.
Sam's wheel fell off in the final, there was more hysterical rolls and bizarre stuff going on.
By now I was crying with laughter :) #141 won and #123 second with #866 third. Job done, except that
there was the small factor of the ROBIN DD!!! It was a super long DD as each car, in turn, died and was restarted or righted.
So it was hard to figure out what was going on.. :) Eventually #48 was given the win though we
were the winners with the action that we had witnessed :)
Indeed it was a F.A.B. day :) Though next meeting is Club Championship meeting, and you are
promised plenty more action then... Great :)
