Was that a big bang, or two or five, or what ?? No explanation as to why that poor Escort was blown up
in the middle of the track, but it was a right laugh :) It seems that Skyhigh Fx Ltd, the guys who destroyed
the Escort.. Provide pyrotechnics for movie and stage effects all over the world, the are based in Lancaster
(I wonder if they have any jobs going :)) Maybe it was to celebrate the fact that we had bombers
instead of normal bangers! Bombers, it turned out, are little contact (nudge & spin) under 1400cc
cars.. More of them later :)
Thanks to Phillipa who did a sterling job in the commentary box though calling #18 Andrew Molloy
Andrew Molly was very funny and peed him off somewhat.. So how did Holly Molly get on then Well, he
had a non descript day so I will not pick on him anymore, however...
In the ministox, there was only one winner, he won the Heats and Final and was smiling, yup it was
#343 Lee Wrennall.. In the first heat he span out #554 Lee Williams, who recovered and punted #308
James Newby, who did not recover. #101 James Hayhurst had a good start to heat two, taking the lead,
but loosing it as he got boxed in by a backmarker.. I had to help push #306 Samantha Newby off the
track, after she T-Boned #555 Martin Yeates. The Grand National saw a win for #116 Christopher Turner..
The Unlimited Minis and another clean sweep for #44 Ste Smith, he just stormed all three races and
in the final, he lapped everyone except himself!. #134 Alex Chapman had a naff day! He was a no show
in heat one and broke his drive shaft in heat two. Dave Eccles, #62, smoked his way around the
track as normal, gaining a few second places. Mr Spitfire, #25 Andy Yeats had a torrid day, never
getting up to full speed...
Another good turn out in the Supers, with 16 cars out for both heats.. Mr John 'I only nudged him' Riley
took wins in heat 1, the final and the Grand National, the latter being from a lap down! Heat
2 was won by #9 Phil Varley. John had got in a tangle, as folks in front braked and ones behind did
not, in heat two, #100 Ann Potts came off the worst, and span out, though she did rejoin :)
What was going on with the Stock Cars ??!! Heat one and a massive pile up, stocks leaping
like gazelles over each other after #260 got broadside, it all got sorted, and later car #80 tried
to leap over #29 Lee. There was also a red flag, while a fire was put
out in the engine of # 932 Philip Wells.. #377 Steven Murry took the win on the restart. Four
less than heat one started heat two (15) and Bullit had a very flat rear tyre, he managed to
get round for a few laps, just, before giving up. #240 David Lythgoe took the win. The final and
another leap around at the pit corner.. Mr Tango #237 Stuart Lawrenson got the win. The Grand National
and I went to the pit corner... Nothing not a bean, no incident at all.. #590 Julian Naylor won!
Now for the main event! It was the first time EVER that Warton had had bombers.. and what a good
show they put on :) TNT had a very full team, I lost count at 6, and even TMK had a couple, plus
one in support (Hi #207 Chris Yeats).. Team V were also in force, with a couple of unpainted
cars and an awesome little 1970's NSU, two cylinder 600CC Hillman Imp look-alike. My car of the meeting!!
Jonathan Atkinson did well in his little car, he attacked straight away, Space Kaddetts # 470, good
job Jonathans engine was in the rear of his car :) We had to laugh at #491 John 'Mr Grumpy' Mason, despite the plea not
to on the side of his Citroen BX!!! complete with that bizarre suspension thing :) He had the last
laugh by rejoining after a massive spin onto the infield in an early heat, doing and fantastic
reverse handbrake turn and rejoining then later WINNING the final, he got to ride in the
Mitsubishi truck with his little chequered flag and BIG trophy:) A battle Royale started between
#2 Rick Ball and TMK, Rick had Andy attached to his front in heat 1.. This must have displeased
Mr Pennington, as in the Final they battled like pros... Andy, after the race finished, got out
and tried to get at Rick, who was still his car, he was stopped by Tony the marshal, worse
was to come however.. .. In the DD Rick was boxed in by TMK Andy's car and secret TMK member Chris Yeats... They both
piled into Rick, who drove off and eventually ended up being one of the last two runners.. Chris was miffed that Rick had doored his abandoned car, bending the door plate
over the drivers seat! Mark of TMK, who didn't race today, ran across the infield and gave Rick
a right telling off (what for ?? Being too good ?? He's only just turned 18 and has no back up
on the track) Still I did not mention The races without Mr Ball in them ! Heat two: Two Hillbillies
tried their bestist to knock each other out of the heat.. The win was by #42 TNT's very own
Donkey, Steve Owen !!!! Who later tried to kill himself, by driving full pelt into the wall,
lifting his car right of the ground!!! He was OK and said that he was tangling with a Hillbilly Astra
and that was what caused him to hit the wall hard! #196, TNT, car had a great hit/jacking on
the Invader of #767, both these drivers must have been a bit shy as there were no names on the cars
to identify themselves, sweet ain't it :) Did I mention it was Team V's #226, Big Al who won the DD, eventually ?
Oh and if you were wondering why TMK were in all blue today, it was cause they had run out of
yellow paint!
