A soggy one, but loads of action to enjoy... Again every class had a good day.. there were a
few NEW cars, of which there was various degrees of success.
The MINISTOX saw action a plenty, no #555 Martin Yeates, but a good show from the next band of top drivers. #161
Nick Isle-Heardman had a new car (the old spare shell of champion #116 Chris Turner
with Nick's old engine from his first car !), Nick did well today
in his new creation :). Mind you #343 Lee Wrennall was again the one to catch.. Lee won both heats and the final
and came in second in the Grand National. #101 James Hayhurst had a mixed day, despite
bouncing along the inner wall in heat one, he still placed second. In heat two James had a spat with Nick, and James lost his side panel in the process..
That was nothing though, as James and others had a biff bash on the main straight, James sped
into the in field and took off as he flew towards me, like Mr Hardy 2 meetings ago. Thump and James jumped
onto the area I was stood.. I had ran off though, well before the impact :) James got going and did another lap,
which impressed me a great deal. #18 Andrew Molloy was out though, he was one of the others on the smash.
Andrew went out in the pit corner in the Final, along with the up and coming #492 Dan Hurst and #230 David Lythgoe.
#161 Nick Isle-Heardman, got three thirds but a fantastic win in the Grand National, seeing off Lee
and David. All in all a great day for the youngsters, proving that this class will succeed when
todays top drivers are forced to retire as they pass the age of 16 :)
Ste Smith did not have it all his own way in the UNLIMITED MINIS, #134 Alex Chapman stormed to
a win in heat one, Alex's first race since the awesome crash he had last meeting. Ste came in
second and #26 Shaun Yeates was third. Shaun's brother, Andy, had a new car today and seemed to
do quite well in it. #309 Angela Fryer, one of today's sponsors, went out early in heat two.
Alex slid wide on a corner and Ste Smith got passed to take the win, #62 Dave Eccles got third.
Ste was in blistering form in the final, throwing his car around like it was glued to the track.
He won with Alex & Dave half a lap behind.
#244 Martin Makim had a huge fishtail slide down the start finish straight, but made a great recovery and only lost 1 place
in the SUPER BANGERS. #57 Steve Hardy got two wins, Heat one and Grand National, and #439 Rodder Kellett
Took the final. DC, #274, took heat two with a comfy lead, it was much tighter further back though.
DC seemed to have steering problems in the final, it caused #802 Graeme Black to have a big spin and DC too to have
one a few laps later. #351 Tut Knowles got third in the final, in his TNT look-alike Tina,
don't tell him I said that :)
Stock Cars had another busy day, accidents galore, the main one being in the Final, #212
Ian Maken ended up side onto the track and was t-boned hard. His car was badly damaged, and though he walked
away, Ian was holding his arm, a speedy recovery mate :) That was NOT the only T-bone in heat one
#187 got t-boned by #251 Gareth O'Beirne... #5 John Clarkson took the heat with #65 Nathan Lawson &
#38 Chris Alderson third. Heat two was won by #80 Glenn 'doughnut king' Lord, who celebrated with a string of doughnuts, after a false start :)
#914 broke his suspension and second & third went to #67 Peter Fawcett & #5 Mr Clarkson, John took
the win in the final with #4 Billy Parkinson second and #80 Glenn Lord. I missed the winner
of the Grand National, but noticed #29 Lee Rigby & #80 Glenn Lord get in a right tangle.
The BANGERS had carnage with over half the field failing to finish. Dan Steele was one
DNF, he had a revenged attack from #224 Michael Ross. #394 'Tommo' also failed to fish after hitting the outer wall.
hitting the outer wall. #514 Paul 'Invader' took the win, #224 Mike Ross second and
third going to #48 Kevin Chadwick. In heat two #666 Andy 'Roadreaper' Pennington and #2 'nasty'
Rick Ball had a little niggle, #41 Dan Steele, unseen by myself, stuffed the boot of #695 Kevin
Bradshaw into the rear of his drivers seat. This was after Dan had battled with #352 Nick
Hird for a couple of laps. #193 Paul Shirliker (?) ended the day with a very bent Nissan. Nick Hird
got the win, Michael Ross second and #394 Andrew Thompson third. The final saw Dan & Mike battle
each other, Dan's Grannie got shorter & shorter, more like a Metro. But the main action was
after #2 Rick Ball had won, he drove hard into the rear of #187, in a tiny Volvo, Rick was spat onto the
infield almost taking out a marshal and myself. The Volvo looked rather unlike a Jag had just tried to
destroy it.. I had to giggle. Though Rick got a stern telling off.. The DD was a little short, #149 Paul 'the Duck' Gore
destroyed the rear of that Volvo, #394 and #514 battled out for the win. Andrew Thompson was the
last car moving, thus declared the winner.
