Stes wrecked Pig

The weather did everything again.. Thunder in morning and by home time it was a heat wave! We had Robins, 8 in total, and plenty of bangers, a couple of visitors from Buxton and flies. Oh and a mad DJ, or two.. Yup it was another day at Warton Stock car Club.

First up, as always, was the ministox, again an up and down day for some. But not Mr Lee Wrennall who blitzed to win both heats and the final, taking an even firmer grip on the championship. Lee did comment that he never thought he see two ministox he made t-bone each other, he did, in heat two. # 40 Jonathan Croad t-boning # 344 Haley Parkinson, they both were ok thankfully :). Our favourite Stuntman # 232 Josh Quinlin had a mighty fine spin in heat one, sadly for him it was right in the middle of the pack, he and the others, somehow managed to carry on though. Unlike # 223 Josie Schofield and # 928 Ste 'fan of the site' Dodd's went out at pit corner. Ste fell to the Wartononline.com curse in the final as he did not finish, though neither did Nick hyphenated, # 161, as he pulled up early too. # 3 The Saint had a mixed day getting 2nds in the final and heat one, but fell back after leading heat two after taking a corner too wide and clobbering a wrecked car. # 811 'Yus M'Lady Parker was consistent getting three thirds. It was also good to see # 16 Thomas Hall back racing after the smash last meeting. Oh it seems I forgot to mention the Grand National. # 811 Parker had a wheel ripped off when he ended up on infield after trying to push Saint into the outer wall, Saint carried on and for the FIRST TIME ever the #3 car won a race. Well done mate you deserve it.. Of course we expect you to win all the time now :)

The Warton stock cars were pretty quiet this meeting. # 342 Dan 'lee's older bro' Wrennall was out in a stock car and kept out of trouble. Heat one saw a bit of a scare for # 911 Peter Kaulbarsch as he went up the wall for a few seconds, though he regained control and kept going. # 55 Billy Robinson had a great day, winning both heats. # 377 Steven Murry got a couple of seconds inc the Final, in which we had a bit of a mass tangle at the start and a good few spins. The Grand National was won by # 251 Gareth O'Beirne, who had earlier got a second in heat one. Sadly the Grand National also gave us a bad smash for # 717 Mark Duckett, who had clipped the inner wall and yanked his elbow with a possible break of his wrist or elbow. I have heard nothing since, but wish Mark a speedy recovery.

We had, as mentioned before, two visitors from Buxton Raceway to join in the fun with our unlimited minis they were # 666 Andrew Carter and # 22 Phil Martin. I trust they both had a fun day with Andy getting a third in the first heat. There was also # 44 Ste Smith back in his mini and he and # 62 Dave DE Eccles had some mighty battles all day. Dave was the victor in heat one, with Ste taking both the second heat and the final, Ste had a massive slide while driving past Andy Carter in the final. Andy had gone out of heat two, with what looked like a steering problem. One of the Yeats brothers, # 25 Andy, came away with 2 thirds. Most improved performance went to # 309 Angela Fryer, who was on a flyer most of the day. A hint to the 'master mechanic' .... Don't do anything to the car, you'll only make it worse :)

The super bangers had a day totally dominated by a certain # 439 Jay 'rodder' Kellett, Jay took three wins, heats & the final, in an impressive display of driving. # 244 Mad Mart had an odd looking car, his two pipes from the bonnet had air con ducting leading to a pipe welded on the roof fin. Dunno what, if anything, it did, but the paint job (blue & yellow), did not hide the fact that the car looks more like a Mad Max car by the meeting. Mark had a great battle in heat two with a smoking # 274 David Christopher. # 19 Michael Bell was as happy as a lotto winner, but only a nano second ahead of a flying # 439 Jay Kellett, who after winning the final, fought his way from a lap down to get an impressive second.

The robins made a welcome return and though low in numbers, they provided great entertainment the most entertaining being a rather hung over Invader by the name of Ste Kaye. Ste managed to roll his Robin almost every corner throughout the day. Local DJ, DJ Pep, from The Bay FM, came out in heat one, they were told that its nudge & spin and the Saturday night disc spinner managed to stay on all three wheels, and even side swiped a few cars on his rounds. The big winner was # 195 and # 62 David Eccles got a second in heat two. His Bad Newz robin was more than a bit mullered by the end of the day. It was disappointing for non of the drivers able (Ste Kaye killed his car) or wanted to finish them off in a DD, but as has happened at other tracks before, these little pigs survive to fight another day. I just hope I'm there to see it :)

The banger day had some good action, and a rare sight of Dan & Dean Steeles dad, Ray having a go after a ten year break. It was commented by many that dad can drive as well as his lads, as tidily removed others from the track and got a second in the final. The final & heat two was taken by son Dean, with Dan finishing forth in both heat one and the final. The Invaders #514 Paul Woods had steering difficulties, well no steering and #519 lost his tyre but still came third. Heat two and the hearse from Mr Grumpy and a Hillbilly Transit Van Yes a tranny van, came out to play, though the tranny got t-boned, by Bones, and was out, the hearse just seemed to fizzle away. It was getting a little worrying that there hadn't been much real action #120 Daryl Wall, decided to get stuck in, in the final. #99 was a victim. The Bad Newz driver #170 got airborne on start finish straight after a tussle with Bones and a Steele. #170 then had his front torn away after a almost head on.. A TNT car took off on the pit straight, ending up stuck high & dry and out of the race. Mr Grumpy mullered #61 into #99. The ever improving Fat Daz took on #68 and Bones just, erm exploded.. It was all looking up for the banger mechanics & the DD. Well that was until only Paul Woods & Dan Steele were the only two able to get their cars onto the track. The last two races were duly cancelled & home we came!
