There were that many different heats and trophies up for grabs, I would fill three pages
just listing them, so they are in race numbers, as in MINISTOX race one. It was a dull &
boring race, for the first few laps then it all happened. A pile up in the pit corner,
#555 Martin Yeates and #343 Lee Wrennall were having a good battle. Lee snuck into the
lead as Martin went wide to avoid a stranded car and Lee took the inside line. Lee then
planted himself into #223 Josie Schofeild, Josie's car was a right mess but Lee kept
going, despite loosing a lap. He rejoined behind Martin, and all hell broke loose, not
to mention Martin's front suspension. It seems that Lee had try to 'help' Martin go on
the infield.. Lee was black flagged and Martin carried on, with his tyre tucked under his
car. He battled on for the last few laps, and took the win, and a silver roof next season
. #18 Andrew Molloy came in a great second place with James '101' Hayhurst third. Race two
was a bit quieter, ok so I lied, #18 Andrew Molloy almost lost the front of his car in a
smash at the pit bend. Nick Isle Heardman also went out in that crash, Mr Yeates also got
some damage. #343 Lee Wrennall took the win with #230 and Martin following. Race three and
it was a much quieter affair, Lee won, Nick second and James third. Race four and #308
James Newby flew up onto the infield. James won and had Lee & Nick right behind him.
The UNLIMITED MINIS had a quieter day than last time, Ste Smith won every race, and has
secured the silver roof for next season, despite almost going out in the first lap after a
spat that threw him onto the infield. #134 Alex Chapman, #62 Dave 'sonny boy' Eccles, #345
Richard Pass and the Yeats Brothers #25 Andy & #26 Shaun shared the other top three places
during the day.
Tut Knowles had a good days bangering, shame he was in the SUPER BANGER races! He spent most
of the day being in the wrong place at the wrong time, even getting a head on with a car
that had spun right into his path : That said Mr Hardy, #57, was well miffed, but still
alive, after a massive end on end roll, again at the pit corner. It seems that Rodder Kellett
had nudged Steve onto the infield, he took off and landed squarely on his roof. #274 Dave
Christopher had a mixed day, having to do some body repairs on his cars nose after a bash,
and winning a few races too boot. Jay had plenty of 2nd & thirds and a win, though I feel
watching Jay & Steve race next time will be, well interesting to say the least : #802
Graeme Black had quite a good day with a selection of 2nd & 3rds. Young Ann Potts, #100,
had some damage in an early race, but got third in the Helter Skelter..
The STOCK CARS had a clean day today, 7 failed to finish in heat one, but 15 did finish. #5
Jonathan Clarkson taking the trophy. #330 took a few wins and #218 Will Ball had an ever
improving meeting with a few second places and a win. #911 was driven by Hoagy, a name from
the past and 'the oldest driver in town' (if you exclude Ann Potts (ONLY JOKING)) He got
a second and maybe a taste for speed again
The LADIES RACE had 11 starters and Mrs Mason (Mrs Grumpy) took the win, another 7 women
followed her to the finish, who said they can't drive ? Not me, I wouldn't dare, though
last year in Wales I said that the ladies races were ten laps or two hours long, which ever
happened first!
Andy Pennington, just managed to get his American Limo to the track before the start of race
two of the BANGERS, shame it only did half a lap : TMK had a bad un here, Paul Gore 'the
duck' had his car snapped after a follow in from #340 Mr Jonathan Atkinson, who in turn was
followed in by TMK's #449 Mark Thomas. It looked like a TMK car park, with the Team V
hearse stuck in the middle. Both Mark & Jonathan were loaded up for there indiscretion..
#491 John 'Mr Grumpy' Mason won the race & therefore the silver roof, with #352 Nick Hird
and #514 Mr Woods following. I have not forgot the roll in race one of #118, though I did
not see it happen, I did notice that he landed a bit close to me… #97 took the win followed
by #186 and #169. #41 Dan Steele was in top form in race three, adding to a pile of scrap
in the pit bend almost every lap.. even two at a time once! Dan won and only Mr Woods also
finished. Andy brought out the limo again in race four, he was spun out, I'm not sure how
though, that was a big big car : #157 Barry Greenhalgh won, #224 Mike Ross second and third
went to #266 Alan Roskill. Big Al in his great Grannie Limo, showed his cars arse and it
was immediately clobbered by #186 who in turn was splat into two by that Dan Steele.. There
was a great deal of bashing and biffing in the pit corner, again, but the win was Dan's
with #118 chasing him down..
All in all another great day it was (I'm talking like Yoda now!! ??) Enjoy yourself well
today and view the force of the banger team meeting. Plus the support classes too :
