Crunch time for Thomas Hall

So did you get wet... I mean really wet??? I did.. I missed a few races, despite being on the track, cause the rain was running down in my eyes. That said, it did dry up later on and there was some action to watch, though not the kind we like. BEST WISHES to MINISTOX driver #999 Darrell Shaw, who was cut out of his ministox after a nasty incident at the pit exit gate. Heat one saw the track looking like a lake, #555 Martin 'butcher' Yeates span like a gud un a few times, there was a pile up at the pit corner. #344 Hayley Parkinson pulled out and #140 Samantha Taylor forgot to go round the corners a few times.. #343 Lee Wrennall took the win, #101 Jamie Hayhurst second and #999 Darrell Shaw got a third. It all went pear shaped for Darrell in heat two. His accident caused a red flag and the result to be called, giving the win to #101 Jamie Hayhurst. The Final saw a surprising leader for most of the race.. #3 Shaun 'saint' Twist, I know its his biggest miracle yet!, anyway he span himself to last place.. Meanwhile others decided to pile into the pit bend.. Still we could rely on #343 Lee Wrennall to win, and #101 Jamie Hayhurst second. That said it all kicked off in the Grand National.. #93 Sam 'mini saint' Twist got pushed sideways on the far corner by #16 Thomas Hall. Both drivers seemed OK though Sam was a little panicked at being stranded on the track. Then from no where #40 Jonathon Croad belted round the corner and smacked into the rear of Thomas' car. Both lads were in distress.. Though they both walked from their cars, they both had a ride in the ambulance and a trip to the hospital. I wish both Thomas & Jonathon well. We had a restart and the race leader #223 Josie Schofield, yes a girl!, was pushed into the wall by #101 Jamie Hayhurst who went on to take the win. Josie was left with a very bent car. #3 Shaun 'saint' Twist got second!

The grown ups in the UNLIMITED MINIs saw the return of #44 Ste Smith, though he, #62 David Eccles and #127 did not restart after a waved yellow flag was thrown when a bonnet flew off a car and landed on the track, I think water had got into their engines . That said they did better than #134 Alex Chapman who did not even start the race. #25 Andy Yeats survived & took the win. Heat two was cleaner & dryer #62 David Eccles took the win with #134 Alex Chapman second and #44 Ste Smith third.. Yes third! I felt sorry for #134 Alex Chapman as he missed the start of the final.. Dave Eccles went out in a cloud of steam & Ste Smith got the win. Oh and don't laugh, but #308 Angela Fryer.. ERM, lost her glasses while racing in heat one after see, erm, put them down in her car, surprise surprise, they had disappeared at the end of the race!

The WARTON OUTLAW STOCKS had a torrid time too. #220 Dean Leek, adapt name, and #234 Jason Lord did not finish a sodden heat one. #377 Steven Murray won, #80 Glenn Lord got second. #777 Jack Lord told me he had sold his fantastic car to 'a young mini driver', my money is on #343 Lee Wrennall. Anyway, heat two saw #2 Rick Ball and heat one winner Steve Murray spin out and cause a waved yellow flag. #80 Glen Lord was the race winner and #38 Chris Anderson and #911 Peter Kaulbarsch followed him home. Peter won the final as #112 Brian Miller and #251 Gareth O'Beirne went out in separate crashes on the pit corner. The Grand National was a tame race with Champion #5 Jonathan Clarkson taking the victory.

Super Bangers made me think I'd gone mad... TWO ANN POTTS CARS! I thort I had water on the brain, well it was on my head and in my notes, the Super banger pages are illegible! Anyway it seems that Peggy, sorry Ann, had let her brother have last years Pott Mobile to race in.. The final saw a win for #802 Graeme Black.. The Grand National had #439 Jay 'spinner' Kellett, spinning all over the place and an odd sight, #944 Tam Cavanagh do a marvelass 'bunny hop' well his rear wheels lift a good two foot in the air as he anchored on hard.. #244 Mad Mart took the win in his MAD MAX tribute car..

The BANGERS were out in force too. Two of my team from the team meeting, Fat Daz & Bam Bam were BOTH destroyed on the first lap in a huge smash into the inner wall at the far corner, bits of their Volvos were scattered for miles, well when I say miles I mean feet. There was a restart and #501 Basher Kaye took himself out after thumping the car of #510 Alan Lewis. #41 Dan Steele took the win in his Jag and #64 and #157 Barry Greenhalgh followed him over the line. Heat two was dull dull dull.. Well until #350 Dan Peel went the incorrect way and did a head on with #431 Deano Tyson, I mean Steele. Deano was well peeed off and in no uncertain terms told Dan what he thought of him. as did Mr Fryer and a few others.. It was not nice to see and marred the heat. #61 got the win, with #224 Mike Ross second and #156 Dave Knight third. The final was a different kettle of fish, #64 over took Deano, then on the last lap, Deano took him out, carefully and took the win. #675 was wasted on start/finish straight and #79 hurt his back. #64 got second and #224 was third. The DD had only a few cars, but it was awesome.. Dans Jag was out, but had his mechanic driving it, he stayed out of trouble as did a visiting banger from Buxton. The Buxton car rolled onto his side, all by himself, he got out & was helped to push his car back on its wheels, shades of Robin racing, he got back in and as he set off the red flags were chucked & #41 was declared the winner.. Both drivers slowed down, then, they reacted to the crowd shouting for some action, and set off at each other.. They had head ons the #41 stuffed Buxton boy into a wrecked car and kept pulling out, ramming him over & over, the tyre smoke from Buxton car was incredible to behold.. Eventually it ended & to whoops of the crowd #41 drove off the track & loaded up & went home!

We also had a display from Buxton of their Hot Rods. Yet again we were impressed with the skill of these drivers and the quietness of the engines.. The results were
Heat One Part 1: #59 Andy Roberts / #121 Nigel Boothroyd / #32 Roy Wilson
Heat One Part 2: #120 Val Brook / #58 Stephen Yates / #24 no name
Heat Two Part 1: #72 Chris Stanford / #59 Andy Roberts / #121 Nigel Boothroyd
Heat Two Part 2: #120 Val Brook / #377 Melvyn Bowden / #48 Paul Green
Final Part 1: #72 Chris Stanford / #120 Val Brook / #59 Stephen Yates
Final Part 2: #23 Dave Eyre / #141 Martyn Grindley / #279 Colin Stanford

And that was that, not a classic meeting by any means, but hey they can't all be great.. Still next time we have F2s again and its sponsored by a paintball place!
