The Invaders in memory of their mate GARY HESP

MINISTOX
# 3 Saint won heat one, smashing the wartononline.com curse, a few spinners, but all in all a very good race. Heat two was very messy, Saint failed to finish, # 18 Big Willi took the win. # 131 Davey Jones and # 928 Doddyman Dodds failed to finish!. Super win for # 16 Posh Hall, # 161 Nick Hyphenated was leading, but his engine just seemed to give out, # 232 Josh Quinlan lost a wheel and was out too.

SUPER BANGERS
20 cars started heat one. Big roll for # 27 Alan Molloy in the far corner. Earlier # 356 Paul Anderson & # 355 Tom Harvey took their friendship to a new level by mounting each other down the start finish straight. # 14 John Riley took to the air passing # 356 Paul, who was having an eventfull race, John carried on though and took the win! Drive of the day was in heat two, when # 274 David Christopher showed a remarkable talent for driving on two wheels, he must have travelled about 30 feet, very slowly, it didnt impress John Rily though, who punted DC later in the race. The win was # 244 John Makims, and boy was he pleased! The Grand National and a bizarre new look for # 100 Ann Potts, who had either been attacked by rocket launchers in the pits, or had decided to burn holes, about the size of scaffoled poles, in the body work of her car It was all very very odd! Makims team mate, required attention after a shunt into the pit exit wall. After the restart Rodder Kellett to the victory, but drive of the race was # 14 John Riley, who had come from a lap down, for winning Final, to get second in the Grand National.. Impressive.. Very impressive..

WARTON STOCK CARS
Red flag in heat one after # 251 Gareth O'Beirne took off and went in the wall very hard in the pit corner. The restart, # 533 John Whittaker hit wall hard and was out, he was ok. # 134 Alex Chapman took the lead after restart but was forced wide to over take a back marker and lost to # 102 Dean Simpson. Alex took the win in heat two, making up for the first heat, and # 34 Leon Jarman spent both heats finding it difficult not to spin every two or three laps, I noted that Leons car had had its roof fin removed after last meetings crash with # 234 Jason Lord and wonder if the fins do actually make a big difference to the handling of these cars. The Final, after a restart due to ... # 911 took the victory.

BANGERS
Ten great bits af rare tin did a few laps as they were judged for the Gary Hesp Memorial Cup. The winner, rightly in my mind, was # 512 Allan Woods in his fantastically prepped Hillman Super Minx. Heat one and a Warton Crush by Malcolms pit gate. Most got clear, after which it was pretty much a straight forward race. After the flag, Bluey, Invader, picked up Dan Steele, and was in turn picked up by a Team V carand all three went into a wrecked car. Dan got free. The win was # 15 of Team V. Heat two and a massive wrecking train into the far corner wall. # 515 broke his arm, needed a plate, pins and screws to put it back together. The TNT Viva car was crushed from all sides to a pulp. The restart saw Gypo Jim attack a TNT car then he got wasted by Team V. Shinny was in the thick of the action and Mick Cotton kept going, well for a few laps. Allans Super Minx was jacked by Jonathan Atkinson. The win was # 513 Stan Woods, Paul & Allans father. Shinny buried himself in the rear of # 519, Invader. The biggest cheer, though, was for Stan, whos lap of honour was a jolly affair. The Consolation, was a big event. Shovy was aggressive, but the victim was Carl Padget in his Camper van (A Morris Deluxe). The camper was jacked, then hit again, going almost vertical, he was winded but OK. The restart and Angus was spun out, 518 was punted into the far straight marshal post, I think Gary noticed, though you cant always tell. Shovy, who was well active, ended up on the infield after another attack, though he got off and carried on. # 515 Thomas Saunders had a big roll on the start finish line, again he was OK. The result was given. The final and an early spin for stan Woods,Shinny was manouvered into Malcloms gate, and a right battle started between the Inavders & Team V. # 505 was walled by a Team V car, 505 carried on, but was then rolled by another Team V car. # 15, Team V span # 516, Invader, into the start line marshal post, though # 516 managed to get going again.# 511, Invader, had a dig at Shinny after the race finished, no idea why. The consolation started quietly enough, least til Dan jacked an Hillbilly. Phil Clegg, # 474, clobbered Malcolms gate, for no aparent reason. Shinny & Ant Kerr went into Dan, # 597 followed # 144 in at the far corner. That said # 597 was totally followed in on the pit bend, bending the car beyond recognition. 597 caught fire, and Paul Woods rushed to rescue his team mate. The car that followed him in?? Team V of course, I wonder if we can have a 12 on 12 later in the season between these teams!! Sadly I doubt it as Big Al and Bluey shook hands and hugged (in a manly way) afterwards. DD time and Malcolms gate got a knock from Dan Steele, Mick Cotton decided to be a moving head on barracade, and did well. # 515 Tom Saunders (Invader) had a head on with Team V's Big Al. Dan was shoved by Shovy, who then did a head on with Mick, twice. Dan had a go at Shovy, from behind. Shovy got clear, then he got jacked by # 611, who was in turn jacked by # 969. All three kept going and Shovy joined in. It all ended messily in the far corner and a winner was declared!!

ROBINS
Heat one, only six pigs lined up. But action for 100. The Hillbilly pig was first to tip. Then it was rolled by Basher Kaye in his Invader pig. Yellow flags and he was righted. Paul Woods, the other Invader did a few powerslides, well slid round the corners. Basher had another sniff at the Hillbilly Pig, but both were rolled by a steaming Tut Knolwes. Sud, Yip Yaps dad, was rolled by Paul on the last lap. It was Spuds first ever banger race. Paul rolled his car on purpose over the start finish line and Tut took the victory. Only four for heat two, Tut took out and rolled the TWO Invader cars on the first lap, then Spud on the second corner. Yellow flags to get them back on their wheels. Tut promptly rolled Paul, again. Tut then dispatched Spud, Basher rolled himself as Tut just drove past. Basher then span, went wrong way narrowly missing Tut, who in turn, turned round and a DD ensued. The crowd loved it, as Basher rolled Tut, not once but twice! The win was given to Tut, as was the final, which featured only three surviving pigs. that said the Hilly Car pulled out after one lap. Paul slid his car over the line, to a polite golf clap from the crowd. The Robin DD was very funny, it took a while for the action to start, but when it did.... Paul ended up on his roof in pit corner, TUT & Basher had a set toom but # 251 came and blitzed the pair of them, tipping Basher. PAul had been rerighted and Tut hit him, giving Paul a push start, they then locked pigs, Paul tried to roll Tut, Tut braked and Paul flew past Tut onto the infield moving a big concrete block some three foot. Tut came accross the infield to attack Pauls pig again. # 251 Shafter, clipped Bashers pig, sending Shafter into a nice spin, he then rammed Basher in the rear, killing Shafters pig, but starting Bashers, to a massive cheer from the crowd. BAsher came round and did a head on with Tut, causing Bashers rear tyres to start digging into the ground., Tut then did a few head ons, before completeing a clean sweep of Pig victories!!!
