Well then...The Warton Team Championship once again featured the unbelievable spectacle of teams getting points for winning races and my team getting none, just because they failed to finish.TBC....
Well that was what I thort I would be saying... However....

The Warton Team Championship was superb... Infact it was better than that! The weather was amazing, the support was great and the bangers were incredible....
The SUPER BANGERS gave great entertainment, again forgetting the LIGHT part of the contact section of the rulebook, resulting in spins and head ons galore! # 91, Phil Clegg, seemed to upset a few drivers, # 274 David Christopher let Phil know what he thought of him at the end of one of heat one. Team-mate # 18 Andrew Molloy controlled a massive power slide at the end of the heat. Phil got in a huge tangle with another of DC's team mates in heat two, this time it was # 27 Daddy Molloy...

The STOCK CARS had scrappy day, though the first heat was quite clean, # 134 Alex Chapman ended up with a puncture, and # 217 went for a spin. Heat two and a big spin for # 135 Mick Howarth and # 133 Anthony Holgate and # 234 Jason Lord pulled up early. Jason almost demolished the speaker tower in the centre of the track as he and Alex took evasive action avoiding Mick Howarth and # 102 Dean Simpson, who ended up locked together and out of the Final. More locked cars in the Grand National, with # 67 Peter Fawcett and # 252 Darren Bentham being the partners in a race ending embrace.. Alex, who was not having the best day of his career, got caught up in the action yet again.

But the main event was the BANGER TEAMS and my word was it great... Heat one and the hit of the day straight away.. # 340 Jonathan Atkinson picked up # 48 Kevin Chadwick, who had been doing well to that point, and mullered him, full pelt, into the pit bend wall. Kevs' car folded like it was made out of paper, everybody, including Kev, closed their eyes and waited for the dust to settle. After a few tense minutes, and to everyone's relief, Kev got out of the car with only a broken finger nail..... Well when I say broken I mean ripped off.. Other highlights of the heat was # 512 Allan Woods sliding his car around like it was on a mud track. # 615 Wrinkly Wrecker from the superb, yet surprisingly unsuccessful wartononline.com team failed to finish and the equally awesome, yet unsuccessful, team mate # 104 Fat Daz also failed to finish,

Heat two... another red flag, this time to retrieve the upturned car of # 728 (Lone Wolves) Paul Robinson, the Capri, when righted, promptly caught fire... The restart saw # 220 Dave Trotter Bayl (Blooz Boyz), # 104 Fat Daz (wartononline.com), who had sportingly almost rolled # 555 Andrew Webber of Lone Wolves earlier in the race, and # 505 (Invader) all out in pit bend. The tower, in centre of track, again was almost destroyed, scattering photographers and drivers in a frenzied scurry to escape certain contact with the car. The race ended just as the Invader/ Bad Newz feud looked like stepping up a gear

Heat Three was somewhat tamer than the previous two, with no wartononline.com drivers out, I can only assume that this was the reason. That said #310 Team V's ENO, got span by # 502 Hoagy, FCUK, Hoagy almost knocking me down as he ended up on the infield. # 270 Gypo Jim (Bad Newz) had a large spin, Angus, 416, Head bangers, was battered all around the track.

The B Final saw my hero, Wrinkly Wrecker, in his FIRST EVER banger meeting, sparring with the Invader # 949 mike Smith (Irish Scouser) and Mad Mark, # 270 Bad Newz taking to two wheels after hitting the outer wall. All hell broke loose as Invader/Bad Newz and TNT cars piled into the corner. The untrained assassin # 62 David Eccles (Bad Newz), pilled into the rear of team mate # 217 Derek Moon, but worse was to come. # 170 Gavin Howard was on the bonnet of his dead car, signalling the untrained assassin to hit an Invader car, Dave misjudged the gap and took Gavs' car from under him, Gav went bum over nipple, landing hard and squarely on his head. Thankfully he still had his helmet on and only suffered a bruised shoulder, in what was the second lucky escape of the day!

The A Final had everything... Including great racing, good hits and spins, cars falling apart (Allan Woods from Invaders) The Blooz Boyz didn't have it their way at all. # 220 Dave Bayl, was punted into wall by Joycey of Steeles. # 201 Lee Jones was pushed sideways down track by a pack of cars and # 205 Dave Walsh and # 206 Terry Pinches ended up on top of each other, helped by a head on by Team V's mad driver.

The DD and 28 cars lined up, many were abandoned early after various hits, though the hero of the day # 501 Ste Kaye (Invaders) kept his car going and despite sustaining bad bruising to his ribs in the heats, egged # 243 Doug (Steeles) to hit his car over and over, to great cheering from the huge crowd. Doug had earlier had a head 0n with Cleggy, who in turn had had an head on with Jonathan Atkinson, who went on to attack Doug...# 42 Donkey and # 200 Noon (Blooz Boyz) had also had a head on, finishing off both their cars.
