Classic Engravings
Well then, it was a scorcher and no mistake.. The restrictors in the Ministox seemed to bunch them up more, leading to more thrill n spills than normal, the bangers were, for the main, tame... Until the DD and Final. The Stock Cars burned up the track, Supers leapt and the StockKarts joined us for the day. They were interesting to say the least, tinier than a remote control car, louder than bangers and quite nippy, I particularly liked the one that seemed to jump round the corners. I was gob smacked that the winner of the final was a lad who looked about 15, and he was the Gold roof holder... Methinks I might have to have a go next time... It was an odd sight seeing the little, well presented Karts go round the track... But one wonders if it is as easy as it looks, I doubt it and I'm sure I may be the first driver ever to roll one, by accident.

Two former Unlimited Minis (remember them ??) returned today. Ste Smiths car is now a Ministox owned and driven by # 232 Stuntman Quinlan... and, despite the restrictors, he won over and over in an impressive show, not unlike the old owner did last season. Heat one and following in Stunty's trail was a keen scrap between # 3 Saint and # 101 Jimbob, Jimbob edged second place and # 354 (Tate &) Lyall Slater (welcome to the wierd world of SnOrKs nicknames) had the misfortune to spin at the close of the heat, though other new driver, David Jones, survived a spin and push from # 999 Darrell Shaw.. The next heat saw Saint spin, but carry on, Little Saint (# 93) retire along with # 928 Doddyman Dodd's, but worse was to befall # 121 spin and was hit, # 161 Nick Hyphenated masterfully control a spin attempt from # 28 Michael Williamson, and Posh boy, # 16, get a good second place and # 492 Dan Hurst got third, not bad considering he failed to start the first heat as his engine had fallen to bits after a short practice run. The Final, and Jimbob span # 28 Michael Williamson but the race ended early after # 444 Lucy Hyphenated hit the wall hard, very hard, causing a red flag. Nick used his car to protect his younger sisters stricken car and she was whisked off to the hospital, though missing out of an helicopter ride as the Ambulance arrived super quickly to the track. Though her injury, to the leg, is severe, she hopes to be racing back at Warton before too long.. Showing that it's not only Nick that has the Hyphenated Grit. The red flags were out again early in the Grand National, as # 999 Darrell Shaw hit the wall hard catching his hand in the steering wheel, this after waved yellows after # 228 (Mad Cow) had a spin and was stranded in a dangerous place at the far corner exit.. The pit gate bore the brunt of the action after the restart, first Little Saint (# 93) and # 206 Robert Dale, both hitting it hard, then, after crossing the finish line, # 3 Saint hit it dead on straight, at what looked like full belt. He was not impressed and stormed off the track, taking a nasty bruise to the leg with him.

The other former Unlimited Mini making a Warton return used to be # 62 Dave Eccles Gold Roof winner, but now wears the # 25, driven by former unlimited mini driver Andy Yeats in the Super Bangers Yes Super Bangers. The car had been heavily modified to be able to compete with its bigger cousins... and did remarkably well, Andy kept the car going all day despite the contact that this class seems to enjoy. Talking of contact, # 356 Paul Anderson, avoid it altogether, despite being sideways on at the exit of the far corner! OK it was after a pile up. A load of DNF's # 669, # 200, # 355 and # 100 all failed to complete the heat. # 27, Daddy Molloy, was out early in heat two after a mishap, and # 274, birthday boy, David Christopher, had a near roll in the final after a spat with Mad Mart, # 244. # 688 went a tad sideways, with help from Daddy Molloy. # 14 John Riley, dominated the final and # 338 Chris Taylor hit wall and went out. The birthday boy (DC) blasted his way through the field, until; having to retire, in the Grand National and # 19 Michael Bell got grounded on inner kerb. DC got in a tangle with # 802, Graeme Black, who had had a great day till then .. It was the last meeting for # 200 David Rainford, Peggy's brother, as his child is going to start in Ministox and the meeting after next, and David said it would be difficult to cope with racing and looking after the Ministox... and you have to agree with that!

# 252 Darren Bentham was a bad boy in the first heat of the Stock Cars and was blacked flagged, the reason, he jumped started. # 34, Leon Jarman, spent a good deal of the day spinning and # 251 Gareth O'Beirne blew his engine around halfway of the first heat. That didn't stop him though from carrying on and taking the win!! Leon lost his bonnet in heat two, though # 777 Jack Lord must have been most gutted of the day, scrapping for a win in the final, both he and # 252 got in a tangle on exit of pit bend, on last lap, neither finished and the then third place car, that of # 717 Mark Duckett, snook the win, bet he was the least gutted guy of the day!

It seems that Bad Newz have riled plenty of other teams in the Bangers. It was a 2LTR meeting and the first heat seemed to pass of well, well when I say well... # 121 had a massive hit on the far bend, thanks to the Bull Headed car of # 158, that after almost doing a reverse roll half a lap earlier, an auto scrap on start finish line, # 645 got smashed onto inner kerb and # 105 went out early too. But it was heat two that saw the first of the main action, with # 170 Gavin (Bad Newz), the one ribbed for being a Bad driver, rear ending the TNT car of # 119 Chip (of TNT). Gav then did a lap and did a huge head on with the stricken TNT car, both drivers were OK. # 62 David Eccles also got stuck in by spinning Chip into path of Gav and taking out Allan Woods, # 512 Invader, and another TNT car after chequered flag... It was WAR... and I was enjoying it!. The consolation was tame in comparison, but the final, oh the final!! # 89, Heartbreaker was mullered into inner kerb, he's another Bad Newz guy, Dave Eccles was pushed by the Invader # 516 onto the infield, where # 514, Paul Invader Woods, did a head on with him, a push and shove ensued on the infield, till the TNT car of # 156 Dave Knight, blitzed across the track and rear ended Mr Eccles. The red flags were thrown, due to the danger to folks on the infield, and Dave, sportingly, got out of his car and shook the hands of both his attackers. Then sadly, a slanging match started with folks shouting that Dave was a coward and he was going to wear all his cars this next season... and there's me thinking it was banger racing! Cleggy of Team V, # 414, was in good spirits despite a huge hit in pit bend wall by # 158 Bullhead! ..Martin Chadwick, # 76 THB, had a bizarre looking wreck in the Banger Mechanics race, after a big rear end shunt, it didn't stop him having a hard head on with a Team V car of Big Al though.. Allan Woods, # 512, attacked Big Al, and we all waited for the DD. Despite frantic work and tyre change from the Invader lads, Paul Woods's car would not start it. The TNT car of 156, now driven by Donkey, reversed and went in the air as he hit the Rainbow Warrior car of # 105, with ASAP ex-team mate, now a Hooligan in his rear..Donkey carried on and had a massive head on with the Hooligan car in pit bend, Donkeys rear lifted a good three foot off the ground. Indeed it was a good way to finish a good day.. next time though it's the Team meeting!!!! Bad Newz, Invaders, TNT, Head bangers and shed loads more poss. inc. a return for the hard hitting BEARS!!!!!! It's going to be a huge meeting!
