MAY DAY TROPHY

Was it a May day ??? Well.....no, It was the Sunday before May Day, but it was another Warton Funday, Best wishes to Sarah Potts, after the 'incident', hope you back to the track soon. Is it me or instead of calling Sarah and Mark , Barbie & Ken, we should call them Hoppy & One Eye?? Oh well just me then. # 100 Peggy Mitchel (Ann Potts) had an emotional roller coaster of a day, with her SUPER BANGER Heat one and she pulled uot with a knackered fuel pump or filter (Peggy was dissapointed). Heat two she WON!!!! (Peggy was extactic), then her kids were injured (Peggy was sad) then, in the final her car caught fire (Peggy was smouldering!). Mind up some other drivers had up and down days ... Arise # 99 Hugh Copeland rolled his Capri in heat one and got caught up in the mellay on far corner in heat two, spending a while with Papa Molloy in his side door. # 944 Kavanagh QC, complete with new mascott, hit the wall hard in second heat. In fact it was carnage all the way. The heats saw a wheel rolling, minus car, a pile up in pit bend and later in far bend. The Final was, slightly less chaotic, with only # 264 Roland Kessall going under the rear of # 88 John Kerr.

JUNIOR BANGERS and a few faces from Buxton, regular Warton Ministox drivers and a few new drivers. Heat one and it all went off in the pit bend, # 101 Jimbob Hayhurst and # 928 Doddyman Dodds were out in the pile up, young Sean, # 415, smashed his engine after hitting the far corner, helped by # 70 Lewis Wynn, from Bad Newz. # 282 ended up next to marshall post on far straight and # 999 Darrell Shaw got a spin in his Polo. # 711 caused a waved yellow after a spin let the car in a dangerous place, not before # 261 ended up on the inner wall. The trainee Bad Newz ladwas at it again in heat two as was # 209, who picked on and span out one of the Buxton Girls! # 261 ended up on inner wall, # 711 span and ended up accross the track, # 92 also had a spin and # 282 also failed to finish. Danielle, from Buxton, was again picked on, this time in the final by that Bad newz superstar Lewis.. Nicholle, also from Buxton, attacked and span our Emma, # 185... and despite damage Lewis just kept going, he's like the engergiser bunny... Girls will love that when he's older :) Another lad worth a mention was, again from Buxton, Nev, who, in a black n pink car (Stingbridge trainnee ??) won a heat and got stuck in. As did the two Invaders, Bluey, who also won a heat and Craig, who... ERM didnt!
A mixed bag for the WARTON STOCK CARS and after a VERY scrappy first heat, which ended with Jack Lord, # 777 and 70 this week!, spinning out on last lap, the second heat was even more destructive, I cannot remember a more destroyed stock car than the one of # 210 after a massive impact into the wall on the pit corner exit. There was a sprint finish, and # 134 Alex Chapman and # 234 Jason Lord lept into the lead, Jason, whos car was a great deal quiter, and seemed a tad slower , had a spin in the final, which was a less incident filled race.
The other stock cars there that day were the F2's and again it was utter turmoil, # 299 Ste Smith, ex Warton Unlimited Mini Champion, had a day to forget, with damage in heat one after being mounted on pit bend, took a while to get untangled, then his engine cover fell off and was ran over a few times, # 251 mounted and lept over Ste in Heat Two. But worse was to happen in the Grand National (the only one of the day), after survining the final unscathed, again on the pit bend, there was a huge pile up, with Ste in the thick of it, he had # 79 on top of him and had a wheel ripped off, as did other F2 cars through the dat, two in heat two, #'s 435 & 197, # 938, with a great painjob, hit wall hard at end of heat two, # 3 span out in final and # 79 mounted # 816 in the G.National. Its fair to say the F2's were very entertaining...
It was a 2LTR BANGER day too and a nice rare Saab was brought out by # 291 Daddy Nickolson of TNT. The two heats were quite tame really, # 611 Dave Stansfield and # 695 Kevin the THB high flyer from last meeting, both in pit corner. # 184 ended up in pit gate too. His team mate, Scose crappy Kevin Chadwick, was merrliy punting cars and won... Yes I said WON!!!! # 282 was mullered in heat two, into wall in his Capri. The consolation was a much harder race, ask fat Daz!! He was followed into the pit wall, full pelt, destroying his car, but thankfully not our Darren. Harty, TNT trainee??, took on Bad Newz, over infield to join in a scrap already in progress, then off again, missing the black flags, and piling into another Bad Newz car in pit bend. All in all gud fun ! The Final, and it all kicked off, # 184 span by heat two winner # 474 Phil Clegg, # 217 and Dereck Moon and # 190 piled into # 184. The RARE Saab jacked Moony, and # 291 (TNT) pushed # 184 (Hillbilly) full pelt into Monnys car, jacking it off the ground making it the wreck of the day! That Scose Kev won, I know, he was shocked too.. The DD and a fairly good turn out, three Invaders, some Bad Newz and Harty, plus others! # 525 of Team ASAP, and Paul Woods, Harty and # 62 David Eccles, all piled in far corber, Harty then wellied Allan Woods up the boot # 525 repayed the hit to Harty. Fat boy esq joined in and a fast moving wrecking train did half a lap, Harty span himself out of it, and the action moved to the pit bend, with head on after head on between EVERYONE!! Paul Woods and the ASAP car had a scrap on infeild Harty joined in. Paul the became the filling of a butty on the pit bend, but only the 525 car survived, Allan Woods got his car going again and a nice full straight head on with 525 ended the day nicely, both drivers got out and shock hands.. # 525, rightly, was given the win.
