22nd April 2007 Reet then, here we go again.. It started a little wet, got worse and ended up dry.. sadly, my pen and notepad succumbed later in the day, so this report is truncated, and to think folks were suffering from heat exhaustion at the London Marathon 2007. The Ministox were in great abundance, having to have three heats, again, which ain't reet bad. Last meetings super star, # 55 Dick Whittingham, had a poorer day with his engine sounding like a bag of spanners, though I bet he said it was a bag of summot else. Never mind though, it gave the others a chance to do well. # 17 Jamie McCann got Rob all hot and bothered by winning the first heat, though he went back to his usual ways, erm crashing and stuff in the rest of the races. The C & M cars, # 284 Damon Murphy and # 285 Thomas Murphy gave me a photo op, after tangling with each other and parking nose to nose next to the advertising board for C & M Motors.. Irony can be so ironic at times. Others not to finish included # 23 Dean Hoggarth and # 54 Tom Adcroft. The 'DOH' moment of the race was made by # 206 Bobby Ewing, who made a great passing move on # 93 Sammi Twist on the far corner, sadly it was a lap to early and Sammi span him out at the pit bend to take second, Bobby was then span out again in the far corner finishing way down the field, the person who got him second time was none other than the ever improving # 300 Jordan Rainford, who went from third in heat one to first in heat two. In the same heat # 94 Joe Ninety (erm four) had his brain rattled with a bash on the far corner outer wall. # 39 Reece (Yus my Lady) Parker pulled onto the infield. A very wet Heat three and a few spins, # 113 Ben White being unbothered by his. # 93 Sammi Twist took the win and we all went off to dry out. The Final was next up and yet more rain to boot, # 93 Sammi Twist took the win in a hard fought battle with # 206 Bobby Davro, with that # 300 Rainford lad in third, I have to mention here that # 415 Sean Haggas had caused me concern with the state of his nuts all day, I had checked and tweeked them before heat one, looked at them in his second race, marveled at the fact he had welded them in the Final, and was stunned when they snapped off and his wheel detached from his car and he ended up in Malcolm's Gate. So let that be a lesson to us all, make sure your nuts are secure before you get on your car and go racing. Anyway it was then time for the Grand National, it started badly with a mass pile up in the far bend, with # 476 Conner Bell getting spun, sideswiped and smashing into the inner wall very hard. The race was stopped while he was removed, with a hurt knee, from his car. The race restarted, # 415 Nut Boi was span out and as both cars slid across the track another pile up ensued. They all sorted themselves out and despite the conditions, # 300 Jordan Rainford went on to win. I feel I should also mention another driver, who has improved since last meeting no end, including racing on the racing line, at speed and getting 'stuck in' with other cars, stand up and take a bow # 600 Lou Rainford.. A good job well done. The Stock Cars were again great fun, with plenty of slides, spins and nudges, the winner of the first heat was # 246 Billy Bunter, who wowed everyone with his driving, # 112 Charlie Sheen, # 28 Mike Williamson and # 80 Sir Glenn Lord, were all out after a smash opposite Malcolms GAte. There was also great racing betwixed # 330 Mick Greenwood and # 22 John Harris. Two false starts and a very slippy track greeted the drivers for heat two, a race won by an ever improving # 106 Ian Barton (Franks lad) this bloke also took the win in the Final, which he informed me was his first ever Final win. Also in the final # 533 Johnny Egg (no yoke) got all crossed up in the final and lost a wheel, # 112 Charlie Sheen had a go at seeing how strong the wall was.. The Grand National saw the track a little dryer, the cars go faster and no major incidents, Billy Bunter (# 246) took a great victory, making the erm 'boys' very happy! Around 28 Bangers came out to play at this meeting, a big thanks to all of you, the racing was hectic and furious, with big hits, a few grudges getting sorted and ruddy good fun. heat one and a near Warton Crush in the far corner, Bad Newz and TNT started they way they meant to go on, having a go at each other.. TNT # 143 was set upon by # 62 Dave Eccles and # 172 Gav Howard, Howard then took on # 511 with a few light head ons, there was an handshake afterwards.. In the fray was an MG driven by # 105 Sirocco Steve, he got stuck in, but we never saw it again. The winner was # 76 some people call him a crap drivers, others say he's a failed scouser, all we know is we call him The Stav.. Wreck of heat one was Fat Boys esq car, that had ripped the floor plate in the passenger side and snapped everywhere else too.. Basher Kaye, # 501, had been bashed, had his door plate bent and that had trapped his hand between the door and steering wheel, being basher though he was back out for the dash for cash & dd. In heat two we had a Nissan Prairie (in Bad Newz colours), # 167 Birdy, the driver, had said he was worried that this beast might well roll, he was right to worry as it went onto two wheels on this S/F straight after a heavy spin. The rest of the racers all got together in the first corner with # 384 going sideways. The winner, in the grime, was # 19 who had a nice roo on his red car.. how roode. In the Final # 617 had a secret weapon, a smoke screen off of James Bond films (of the 1970's), the TNT feud continued with # 62 Dave Eccles getting hit hard into the wall by # 156 Dave Knight, Eccles saw red mist, was span round by another car and went hard into Knights door plate, crushing Knights car into the out wall sideways, this stopped the race and Eccles & his car was loaded up for dooring. Knight had a sore arm, and was knarked, but seemed OK other than that. The win was taken by # 110 Mike Johnson, in a car that had done FIVE meetings !!!!! The dash for Cash & DD were up last, and a dash it was at first, though Cleggy did get spun, plenty for the DD part though and some good action from the Nissan Prairie, taking on all comers and raising its rear wheels on a hit on the rear of Bashers car, the Prairie took the win and we all went home, wet, cold but happy. We also had the Modtox visit us, the first of three visits this season, and I was stunned to see our very own # 232 Stuntman Quinlan racing with them, the ex-Ministox driver had the best looking machine to boot, so I wish him well for the coming season.
