6th August 2006 It was another great days racing let down, yet again, by the weather, one wonders if Gary liked it better when it was raining and not summer type weather. Anyway, we had rolls, fires, wrecks and great racing in most classes, again, and I could only describe the days racing as, now whats the 'in word' in the 'new reports' in the programme ?? Oh yes ... It was IMPRESSIVE! Don't worry the rest of this report will not feature that word again. MINISTOX Another impr... erm great days racing from the 10 to 16 year olds, heat one saw # 93 Saint II get spun out for the lead by # 94 Joe Corless # 206 Bobby Ewing was out earlier with an engine problem, or summot. # 232 Stunty took the win, his mum will be so proud about that, you can read it one day, but the irony was I had said to Josh, 'Well if you ever won a race you would know how close I have to get to you to get a decent photo with this camera!'. He made the point again by winning heat two, which was full of carnage and destruction, we even had a new chicaine added, by stopped cars, in the far corner, that the rest of the field avoided, though there were a few near misses. # 107 Ians lad went out later and # 93 Saint II had a big spin and wall hit, though he restarted again. The final and an awesome drive by # 415 Sean Haggas, whos car was described as the best handling out there by Paul Yeates, praise indeed, anyway Sean was sideswiped a good few times by # 323 Ant Riley, and for quite a while, kept going, until an eventual spin put him down the race card. The win went to # 93 Saint II, who seems to be very consistant this season, hee hee thats put the kybosh on that now :) # 140 Sam Taylor, who has been noted on these pages as being really well improoved this season, took the Grand National win, fending off an on form # 206 Bobby Ewing. # 300 JR Ewing came another victim of # 323 Ant Rileys aggressive driving style, though the former does have a good turn of speed and shows brilliance at times, just needs to calm down a bit. STOCK CARS Heat one was eventfull again, plenty went out early, and # 28 Mike Williamson took the far corner too tightly, very too tightly, he clipped the inner kerb and rolled right in front of us. He was Ok though his roof fin was a tad remodelled. The race restarted and the sprint to the end was lead by # 342 Dan Wrennall. If we thought the first heat was exciting, we were blown away by heat two. There were yellow flags a plenty with # 91 Phil Clegg getting his car tarshed in the s/finish wall. # 134 Alex Chapman was out after a spin and a head on, # 24 Richard Harris and # 135 Mick Howarth hit the entrance gate at a gallion miles an hour, wrecking both cars. There was a winner, who survived the carnage and kept his head, it was...wait for it.... # 533 Johnny Egg. # 24 Richard Harris had nipped home to get a bar, or summot, to fix his car, and had it fixed and ready to race in the final. # 234 Jason Lord had a flat tyre and # 134 Chapman was out early. # 19 Michael Bell got the race award for biggest damage to his car, with both wheels at the front damaged, one missing the other hanging on by a thread. # 24 Harris had a dream race, and won it! The Grand National was very wet, wetter than a fat person in a bath, the racing was therefore slower, though there was some action at the end, # 24 Harris and # 135 Howarth had another accident and Mr Howarth was not happy about it and went accross to tell Mr Harris so. SUPER BANGERS A spin and a head on took out # 182 Shell Creighton in the first heat, mind you that's better than poor old # 424 Yilmaz Samilogu, who's car burst into flames on the pit straight. This brought out a red flag and also the fire extinguishers, we found out, in a Brainiac way, that neither burning rubber/plastic smoke, or fire extinguisher powder is contusive to healthy breathing, oh well. The restart saw a great scrap between # 439 Bionic Kellett and # 272, # 274 DC took the win. The rain got to my notes and I can't remember much about heat two, other than # 439 Bionic Kellett driving a storm and winning, a feat he repeated in the wet final, and also drove well later in the day to get up to about third in the Grand National. So well done bionic boy. The winner of the GN was # 964 Anthony Whittaker. BANGERS
The HESP 2006 Memorial was the first Banger race of the day and features some decent tin, from nice Triumphs, a few olde Vauxhalls to
a Morris Oxford estate driven by # 41 Dan Steele and # 319 Shovy old Angela, racing in its forth HESP and gawd knows
how many other meetings. Anyhow the race was halted after a big pile up in the far corner, # 695 Kev Bradshaw put himself in
the far wall corner, a few other cars had spins, inc. # 501 Basher kaye, who was out of race, Kev got going, then a wrecking
trained piled into the corner, # 509 (Invader) jacked by # 340 Johnny Atkinson (Team V) with team mate # 266 Big Al, who
was jacked by the Christine car that was driven by Shovy. # 366 Then jacked Wilf, then an Invader gor # 366. Kev, meanwhile had done a lap and was
forced to go well wide to avoid the carnage, but got trapped as the track was blocked. Kev merrily started to reverse, as # 215 Joycey
bashed a clearing in the wreck, but Kev was collected by Team V's # 474, both cars went into the wall and Kev was winded.
The red flags came out and he got out of his car. The restart was more roddy, but very fast on a perfect dry track and
# 516 (Invader) took the win.
ROBINS Harr harr hee hee, they make me laff out loud, those lil pesky three wheeled fibreglass coated rollcages.
Angela has sent the results from this meeting.
