UNLIMITED BANGERS were out first and despite the House of Yorkshire being out numbered, it was a good race. # 183 Richard Kenyon (Y) was punted on the inner banking straight away. We also had a wrecking train with # 115 Howard Draper (Y), # 215 Joycey (L) and # 384 Anthony Beckert (Y).. # 143 Sam Begley (Y) tried to get # 501Basher Kaye (L) but ended up in the wall himself and out, in a Garnnie Limo too. It was an all House of Lancashire finish, with # 644 taking the win. Heat two and a massive roll in the Pit Corner for a House of Lancs car, either Woogot or Megot. Again Yorks were outnumbered but gave another good fight, they couldn't stop # 41 Dan Steele (L) getting the win. The Final saw big hits galore despite there being only three Yorks. cars v Ten Lancs. ones. # 105 Sirocco Steve (L) span himself and got a head on with # 215 Joycey who was then in turned jacked. # 41 Dan Steele (L) was also in the wars with his front passenger wheel hanging at a bizarre angle, though it in no way slowed him down. # 298 Ross Nickson (Y) was out later in another Grannie Limo. # 169 Mark Bass (L) and # 115 Howard Draper (Y) suffered heavy damage too. The win was for # 611 Dave Stansfield (L). The DD was an entertaining affair with # 174 Megot (L) jacking big time # 501 Basher Kaye (L) and # 173 Woogot (L) creamed # 169 Smelly Bass (L) even destroying the rear axel of Bass's car. The DD win went to # 174 Megot (L).

2LTR BANGERS were more even in numbers and there was more action that you could swing a swingy thing at. Heat one saw not one but two tsunami flowing down the pit straight.. at the same time!! Carnage was everywhere and that despite there being a total follow-in ban there were plenty of destroyed cars, not that anyone could tell # 818 Craig (Mr Bump) Philips that his car was beyond repair, as it kept coming out all day, getting shorter and shorter & starting the DD with no rear axel at all. # 172 Gav Howard (L) did a team hit on # 109 Michael Johnston (Y) as he was waiting to rejoin off of the infield. Johnston lost a rear wheel, but managed to get back into the race with a ripple of applause from Howard. # 319 Gary Shovelton (L) had a roll and brought out the red flags The win was # 218 Rob Speak (Yes THE ROB SPEAK) (L) in a lil yellow car with the word red painted on it! The highlight, for me, in heat two was # 42 Donkey (L) destroying his Capri, by driving full pelt into the new wall, the car folded in slo-mo completely off the ground, Donkey got out uninjured and after I had put the fire out, explained 'I thought the car was giving me some legs as we came out of the first corner….I took my foot off the pedal to slow down for the far corner, It stayed down!!'. Indeed it did and at full speed the car committed suicide. The race restarted and # 251 Paul 'Shafter' Chafer (Y) drove like a demon, with back up from top team player # 43 Nicky Bishop (Y), who acted as a decoy, Shafter took the first win of the day for the House of Yorkshire. The allcomers race and # 351 Tut Knowles (Y Head of House) out after a head on hit # 818 Mr Bump (Y) took on loads of Lancs cars in Malcolm's gate and still managed to drive off the track after the race ended! The win was # 514 Paul Woods (L) he also won the Final which started with 3 (Y) cars v 9 (L) cars.. and two (Y) cars finished! # 266 Big Al (L) was a bad boy after giving a big follow in in pit bend, being blacked flagged, he went the wrong way round the track for two laps.. The DD and a good turn out of cars, inc. Mr Bump (Y) and # 501 Basher Kaye in a Metro from the Jnr class!! It went on for ages as the cars got whittled down to just two, Mr Bump (Y) and Big Al (L). Big Al got the win.

JUNIOR BANGERS saw great racing all round with a roll in heat one, in the pit corner, and plenty of nudges & spins with a few cars getting wrecked. This was the most evenly balanced class, and as far as I could tell, all the Juniors were well behaved throughout. # 353 Chris Bibby (Y) took on a few Lancs cars and # 206 Bobby Dale (L) went on to take the win. Heat two and again great car control, another roll, this time at Malcolm's Gate we then had a tsunami into the far corner, with cars all over the place, most continued and # 161 Nick Isle-Heardman (L) spent most of the race with only three wheels on his car. # 164 John Williamson (L) took the win. The final and a total of THREE rolls in this race alone, one early on in pit bend and two at same time, one on pit straight and one in the far corner! Everyone was OK and racing resumed. # 333 (Y) was the driver of the race for me, he stood out for keeping going and showing great car control throughout the race. The win went to # 138 David Kellett (L) who is a great natural driver, he just needs to concentrate more on the off the track stuff.

STOCK CARS were the support class and with 28 cars racing for points, they proved as exciting as the bangers. Heat one was frantic with cars racing three abreast all over the track. # 134 Alex Chapman had a torrid day with a spin in the pit bend, he rejoined but the win was # 35 Jason Yeates in a close race to the finish. Heat two was won by # 80 Glen Lord and, in this fast hectic race, # 24 Richard Harris was out after a debarcal saw him shred a tyre. The Final was a quality affair, # 24 Harris lost his fin, and # 134 Chapman had two spins in the pit bend, there was a major accident in the pit bend, though all except # 135 Mick Howarth continued. # 35 Yeates went on to take another win. The Grand National was a scrappy affair, with incidents galore inc two pile ups in the pit bend, and three in the far corner, loads of cars did not finish, but # 343 Lee Wrennall did & he was first too boot! Top stuff!
