Lots of white skin at the start of the day, that glowed red/pink by hometime.. It was another hot un. It was also the second meeting in a row I was marshaling oppo the Start finish box.
JNR BANGERS
A large turnout of our future banger drivers, with well prepared cars, well apart from # 928 Steve Doddyman's Mestro van,
which erm, had failed race finishing all day and erm failed starting at least once, the paintjob was something to be
proud of tho, so it wasn't a complete waste of his hard work and effort. (I think that will keep him of a life of crime).
Anyway the first heat, erm the heat that started the day, and a red flag was thrown after # 211 Jordan (young Stinky) had
a very successful roll landing atop of # 206 Bobby Ewing (Dale). # 101 Jimbob Hayhurst had a failed roll going into the
pit corner in an altication with # 191, Jimbob was unlucky too as he tore off his front suspension in a move that was in
no way his fault, but a life learning experience. # 164 John Williamson finished ahead of the rest and took the win
.
Heat two and three red flags.. a roll for the yellow peril # 544 brought out the red flag
before # 88 Jem Kerr also rolled bring out it out again, not that Jem was doing badly being second with the flag. # 211
then had a hard hit into the outer wall, thankfully all three drivers were not seriously hurt, tho I suspect some
bruising may have been evident a day or s later. Young Ryrob, # 236, was having a good race spinning and nudging away
other cars, until the hit on # 211 halted his chance to finish the race.
The main success went to # 333 Ben Brooks, in his debut in bangers. Or was it to # 206 Bobby Dale ? I dunno, but
winning isn't everything oh and not winning isn't everything either.
The Final and # 236 Ryrob failed to finish after hitting the outer wall in the pit corner hard. # 101 Jimbob
Hayhurst, # 206 Bobby Dale and # 820 Palmer all decided to park up together side by side, though Palmer did try to
roll his car in front of the other two. They were later joined by # 999 Darrell Shaw in his personally painted mini.
Up front it was very close with a scrap between, in no particular or favoured order,# 14 Riley Jnr, # 333 Ben Brooks and
# 191 Williamson, until the latter got beached on the inner kerb. The ride on the pace car was for # 14 Riley Jnr… Well
done him and well done everyone, after all it's the taking part that counts, not the winning.. and not winning is as
good as … OK it's the taking apart that counts.. Isnt it ??
SUPER BANGERS
What an awesome days racing. # 244 Mad Mart Makim ripped of his rear suspension clipping the inner kerb in heat one.
Rodder Kellett, didn't rod, he pulled up, as did Mr Scooby # 555 Mrs Wells. Capt Black # 802 went on to take the win.
# 53 Gayboy helped # 19 Mike Bell into the outer wall, causing a red flag in heat two, # 555 Scooby Doo was trashed
after # 244 Mad Mart was span into his dead car. # 244 Mad Mart got in a tangle with # 141 Alan Brown, almost taking
both cars out. # 802 Capt Black took his second victory, he made it an hat trick in the final, which also saw # 53
Gayboy failing to finish, # 19 Bell had a great race, making the final the closest race for a while in the Supers.
The Grand National was as clean as a Harry Potter novel and despite Gayboy not finishing after a spin by # 4 Jason
Blackburn (I mean Preston) it was plain sailing for # 244 Mad Mart who took his first win of the day, and his last too.
WARTON STOCK CARS
The Stock Cars had a quieter day really, though the racing throughout was incredibly close. Heat won and a few light
spins for # 911 Peter Kaulbarsch and # 246 Billy Smith. The victor, and hard won it was too (oops i slipped into Yoda
mode then), was # 342 Dan Wrennall.
I was marshalling at this meeting, on the post with a target painted on it for cars to aim for, and was considering
myself lucky not to have been hit last meeting, well # 347 Hoss Nelson had other ideas in this the second heat, he got
launched when trying to squeeze through a gap between # 24 Richard Harris and the pit corner, almost taking out my
post, he missed, though I think that Harris might have it in for me as a lap or so later he tried to launch # 234
Jason Lord in my direction.. # 252 Mr Bentham took the great win leaving everyone else floundering in his wake.
The final and though there were incidents of note, the racing was impressive. # 251 Gareth O'Beirne took the win.
Again it was quiet in the grand national, but despite the lack of accidents, there was action a plenty, with tight
racing all the way down the field, that Dan Wrennall took the win.
METRO BANGERS
Metro Bangers were back today and despite no rear sub frames falling off on the track, there was plenty of fun and
action. Heat one and a nervous start, a few spins, nudges and smashes, not forgetting a few whacks pushes and hits
at the end of the race. # 154 ws a banger virgin it a tidily painted flamed Metro, it was mullered by the end of the
race, but he was up for more action. # 501 Basher Kaye had a huge hit on # 247, destroying both cars, though # 247
would reappear later in the day, with Basher driving it.. Did he hit that hard he got transported into the car in
front? # 880 Little Wan Kerr took the win.
Heat two and a big roll for # 147 in his first ever banger meeting. The far bend saw plenty of action including the
roll, as did the far corner which had hits a plenty. # 192 had a heavy spin and # 493 seemed the target for a few
other cars too. # 297 Tim Nickson took the win in an unraced Civil War reserve car, that was not needed as all our
lads turned out for the battle in Essex in Jan.
The Final # 143 had a huge roll in the far corner, almost having # 69 Smelly of Team V joining him. # 493 was jacked
and span out by Team V's 298 and 416 Angus was followed in by # 691 Snapper. # 194 Paul got the biggest wreck having
his metro reshaped into a slice of cake, but worst injury was # 880 Lil Wan, who took the full impact and severely
bruised his pelvis, though his car remained looking like a Metro. Tim Nickson again took a win.
The banger Mechanics and DD was a fun affair with well over 18 cars lining up, inc # 247 minus rear wheels but plus
a Basher driving. # 111 (TNT) lost a tyre, but kept going and spins and hits were in plentiful supply. # 146 Mad Mark
went for a ride on our wall of death, though he managed to stay upright, unlike Donkeys car, driven by AN Other who
managed to roll at my feet like a friendly Dawg.. Or cat. Tim Nickson jacked up # 611 Stanny in a great move. The
Mechanics win went to that Nickson bloke again and the DD was # 146 win.
