So it was a quiet meeting.. Tell that to Ike. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. That said there was plenty of good racing oh and a bit of rain too !! (A BIT ??? Yer havin a larf!! Ed)
MINISTOX
Heat one saw a huge big air moment for # 928 Doddyman. He took off in the pit bend, slid across the infield and, somehow, carried
on.. # 266 Thrillmaster had a heavy hard spin into the outer wall in the far corner. # 415 Sean Haggas pulled out during the
race.. The win was taken by # 93 Saint (the only Saint).
Heat two and a red flag after # 168 Ike Parkinson was clipped and rolled onto his side, the car slid into the pit wall and
Ike busted his knee. His Ministox roof had to be removed to extract Ike, he was taken to hospital, had an op and was released a few days later.
I would like to thank all the other drivers for obeying the flags and parking up well away from the incident. The restart
saw a few more cars drop out and # 206 Bobby Dale took a great win.
More red flags, this time in the final, a wet un this race, and # 417 Sean Haggas smacked into Malcolm's gate. Spins in the restart for # 131
Davey Jones and # 11 Chris Smith. # 17 Jamie McCann managed to beach his car in the far corner exit. # 101 Jimbob Hayhurst took the
win.
The closest racing went on in the Grand National between # 131 Davey Jones, # 93 Saint and # 28 Big Willy. There was a waved yellow after
# 444 Lucy Isle-Heardman stopped in a dangerous place. But # 131 Jones won.
SUPER BANGERS
Heat one and a big smash for # 19 Michael Bell after he slowed down behind # 137 Mr Kellett (the other one) in his pink
semi built Sierra. # 53 Gayboy was behind Bell, and give him a good shove, Bell was released a while before the corner, but was
going too fast to take it.. (Gayboy was the first ever Warton driver to be shown the Blue flag for that incident).
Michele Creighton (# 182 0r 3 - no one knows) had a Super paint job on her new car... # 439
Jay Kellett (no relation) took the win.
Heat two and # 555 Peter Wells and Gayboy were the highlight as they had a coming together, Bell slammed on and they both came to
a halt in the Far corner..
The final saw the current champ Kellett (# 439) have an early spin. # 9 got sideways and was t-boned. # 53 Gayboy got another
look at the Blue Flag in this race too.. # 244 Mad Mart was the victor.. with Gayboy and # 100 Peggy Potts completing
the top three.
The Grand National was a quieter affair, with a slightly drying out track. That # 439 Jay Kellett was the winner.
WARTON STOCK CARS
#'s 680, 133 and 911 all out in the pit bend. # 35 Jason Yeates threw up a smoke screen for a few laps, before his engine expired and
# 34 Leon Jarman seemed to enjoy going round the bends on only three wheels.. Alex Chapman (# 134) span out and damaged his car
so severely that he could race the rest of the day.. It was all very odd for a first heat, # 342 Dan Wrennall avoid all incidents to take the win.
It was # 246 Billy Smith who took victory in a very calm second heat.
Despite a massive downpour, Wrennall took the final win in a very closely fought race with # 347 Hoss Nelson which went down to the wire, not unlike # 61 tyre
which shredded when it went down to the wire, and beyond...
# 135 Mick Howarth was the victor in the grand national which was a dryer affair.
BANGERS
Low on numbers today due to the Team Meeting at Hendo, that said there was action a plenty in the first heat with a nice pile up on the
pit straight that took out # 53 Gayboy in a black Volvo Estate and another Volvo, this time belonging to the Gravediggers. The BMW
of # 161 & # 444 Hyphenateds father was creamed in a neat spin and unavoidable head on. Mr Steele, Dan Steele took the win
on his return to our short oval.
Heat two was 'won' by someone, I actually fell asleep during the 'race', not unlike the USA Formula One Grand Prix a week later..
The Bradshaws, # 696 Karl & # 695 Kevin, got splattered about the track, though both returned, with # 611 Stanny for the DD.
The winner of the Final was that Steele man again and the Dd went to # 695...
