MINISTOX
There were incidents galore in the Ministox with the dominate driver being current Champion # 101 Jimbob Hayhurst,
though he lost the Final to # 93 The Only Saint (for a short time) and was kept honest the rest of the day in some of the
closest racing we have seen all season in the Jnr class. The first heat was almost a Destruction Derby with a big
accident on the Start-Finish straight which spat # 206 Robert Dale onto the infield, # 152 Mickey Jones and another car
locked together. After the restart we saw another race stoppage, this time due to # 11 Chris Smith stopping in a
dangerous place after an incident, this set us up for a short sprint for the finish, which was highlighted by # 131
Davey Jones pushing Jimbob round the last corner in a last ditch attempt to snatch the lead, sadly to no avail. # 266
Damian Gladwin had a thrilling second heat with spins, three point turns and thrills n spills galore. # 206 Dale and #
415 Sean Haggas failed to finish and Jimbob was hotly pursued by # 28 Big Willy. More accidents in the final # 17
Jamie McCann brought the race to a close after a being mullered by # 232 Stunty. Another red flag, this time to
retrieve an injured # 140 Samantha Taylor, hurt in a clash in the pit corner. # 152 Mickey Jones was out in the far
corner in the final restart, and was duly wasted by # 415 Haggas, the race ended under a red flag and # 93 Only Saint
took the win. The Grand National, usually a boring affair, was hotter than the tempers in the BB house.. # 28 Big
Willy, # 101 Jimbob and # 152 Mickey Jones all battled for the top spot, Jones put paid to Willys race but Jimbob
snook the win on the last lap, awesome stuff.
WARTON STOCK CARS
The Stock Cars were dominated by a certain current champion # 134 Alex Chapman, though heat one saw # 77 Nick
Nic(olson) and # 91 Phil Clegg tangle and go out in the pit gate. # 80 Glenn Lord got a wake up call whan another car
span in front of him in the same heat. The second heat was
not won by Chapman, he pulled out early, will Clegg in pit corner. # 18 and # 24 Richard (You know wot it is yet?)
Harris had a smash on the start-finish straight, # 911 Peter Kaulbarsch was punted on the last lap by # 234 Jason Lord
who went on to win. Plenty pulled out of the final and Chapman worked his way up to forth in the Grand National with #
133 Anthony Holgate taking a well deserved win.
BANGERS
Twas good to see the Stinkbridge teams back, in numbers too, there were a few big individual names racing too. It looked
promising on paper, and to be fair we were not to be dissapointed.
The First Heat saw big hits for cars # 493 (CVR), # 139 Aaron Whitewood (Team Anon) and # 43 Donkey (TNT B) # 417 Keith Flynn (Invader A) was back for his first meeting since major surgery last season, he was soon in the thick of the action, being launched into the air in the pit corner. Flynn also had a heavy spin in the pit straight and ended up buried into Malcolm's gate. Flynn's team mate # 514 Paul Woods was having a great race, leading until the last lap when a misfire made him pull out, the win was taken by # 502 Hoagy (Team Hart).
Heat Two and two major incidents. First up # 118 Steve (Mac) McCormick suffered a nasty break to his lower leg after a follow-in in the pit corner. The restart saw another injury, this time to # 308 Steven (Tosh) Tyson, his car was flipped in the far corner and hit the outer wall on its side roof first causing a fracture to Tosh's vertebrate and cracking his helmet. Both injured drivers were taken to hospital, McCormick by air ambulance, and both have since been discharged. Everyone at Warton wishes them a speedy and full recovery. Other incidents of the heat saw # 478 Chucker (Team Ave It) make two Stinkbridge cars have a coming together. # 474 Phil Clegg (TNT B) take out car # 808. # 148 was followed in by Cleggy (TNT B). # 478 Chucksy was eventually finished off by # 294 Nigel Ashley (Stinkbridge A). The win, however went again to a Team Hart car, this time driven by # 258 Harty.
A massive pile up in Heat Three saw # 128 Rob (Teabag) Teasdale (Crash Zone - as if you didn't know that) have a huge jacking onto the far corner, by # 451 Willy Blackwell (Stinkbridge A). At the same time Teabag was getting snapped, team mate # 143 Sam Begley was almost over on his side in the same corner courtesy of # 09 Phsyco (Stinkbridge B). # 511 Steve Scurr (TNT A) was left for dead with severe rear end damage. # 880 Ant Kerr (Team Anon) was unlucky to get going after a hard hit into the far corner, he was picked up and followed into the pit bend and almightily jacked by an unnamed Stinkbridge car. # 105 Steve Johnston (Team Anon) attacked # 501 Steve Kaye (Invader A) after Kaye had first walled Kerr. The win was # 512 Allan Woods (Invader A) who got the biggest cheer of the day.
The A Final was actually quite tame, # 611 Dave Stansfield (Crash Test Dummies) was rear walled by # 81 Benno (Team Ave It) they both carried on, locked together round to the start finish straight, where they both came to rest. # 520 Pinner (Invader B) was launched over the infield at the pit bend. # 151 Steve Scurr Jnr (TNT A) took the victory.
The B Final was something else, 'the best banger race at Warton for years' was the general impression with action happening on every bit of the track. It started when # 218 Rob Speak (Team Hart) was followed into the far corner by # 167 David Holmes (SB A) # 45 Nutty (CVR) getting a nice jacking from # 294 Nigel Ashley (SB A). # 517 Flynn (Invader A) escaped a follow in attempt from # 294 Ashley (SB A). # 512 Allan Woods (Invader A) was spun out by # 139 Arron Whitewood (Team Anon). There was plenty of action in the pit bend too, though most of this was obscured by the steam/smoke that rose from this battle ground. The damage was clear after the race was halted follow-in # 512 Allan Woods (Invader A) getting clipped and rolled over, landing upside down on his brothers car. The biggest wrecks in the pit corner mealy belonged to # 7 Matty, # 450 Glyn Platts (SB B), # 09 Pyscho (SB B), # 318 Wilf Speak (SB A), # 407 Jason Mitchell (Stinkbridge Rookies) and # 501 Steve Kaye (Invader A). The win was given to # 409 Carlos Pears (Crash Zone).
The DD saw a huge turnout of cars, impressive considering the destruction during the day. # 09 Psycho joined the rest, despite not having rear wheels and the action soon began, though most of it was again obscured by smoke and steam we could see cars piling into the pit corner. # 218 Rob Speak drove full bore into the pack, followed by Matty and loads more. # 318 Wilf Speak was almost rolled by a glancing blow, there were plenty of head on smashes by most cars on the track. Eventually it got down to the last few cars.. # 167 Holmes (ST A) and # 409 Pears (CZ) had a push n pull session, though the last car moving was deemed to be # 258 Harty (Team Hart). Who were the team that also took the win and the Grand first prize money.
