MINISTOX
Heat one saw 28 cars starting. # 999 Darrell Shaw took an early spin and later in the race # 161 Nick Hyphenated has a nasty
spin ending up on the infield with a ripped off front suspension. It was an hectic race with plenty more spins and knocks with
cars dotted around the track by the end. The win went to # 101 Jimbob Hayhurst in his 'not pink' car! The second heat was even more scrappy
with spins all over the place, # 93 Little Saint took off on a trip on the infield, as did # 206 Robert Dale. # 3 Saint had a
spin too, to be honest most did... The Final and even more action, a car park developed in the pit corner near Malcolms gate, and
there was even more action with the closet racing of the day. It all went Pete Tong in a very wet Grand National, this was after
, # 17 Jamie Mccann had a nasty knock in the pit bend wall. # 140 Samantha Taylor got span on the pit corner exit, her car remained in the centre of the track facing the oncoming traffic.
Most avoided her, but # 999 Darrell Shaw was blind sighted by the other cars and smacked into Sams car head on at full pelt. The race was
red flagged and Darrell was given treatment and a check up after staggering out of his car clutching his tummy. Sam seemed Ok.
A result was declared and they went home.
SUPER BANGERS
Heads were turned by the sight of an awesome prepped Subaru of # 555 Peter Wells. It was to be a day to remember for
Peter, sadly, not for the right reasons. Heat one started well enough with only a few incidents, # 53 Dave Cuthbert
took to the air in his Capri on a trip onto the infield... as did # 20. Big pile up on first corner of heat two took
out heat one winner # 100 Ann Potts. loadsa spins n nudges early on too, before it settled down a bit and # 53 Dave
Cuthbert took the win.. # 439 Jay Kellett took the Final win, after a great scrap at
the front of the field. # 100 Ann Potts had a brake test, and passed it, after getting nudged onto the infield and
aimed directly at the start-finish marshal post. The Grand National saw it all kick off. # 53 Gayboy Cuthbert was in
the lead, and # 555 Peter (Subaru) Wells was about to be lapped, there was contact and Gayboy ploughed into the infield
at full pelt, just managing to avoid Gary's marshal post n getting back on the track, this caused Gayboy to fishtail
quite violently, and make contact with a few other cars. A mini clog up developed in the next, pit , corner and Peter
Wells ended up rear end into the new pit gate. Next thing we know Gayboy steams round and has a massive, deliberate,
head on into Petes car, twice. Pete was a tad upset by this and went over to Gayboy and 'had a word', to be fair from a
few feet away.
WARTON STOCK CARS
21 starters in heat one, a red flag early on after a # 234 had an incident on the start-finish straight, a full restart
saw an awesome battle royale betwixt the Wrennall brothers, close racing, nip n tuck, light nudging, I bet they were
have a right laff in their helmets. Sadly it only lasted a few laps, and one later had a spin near Malcolm's gate,
though it were not the others fault. Other spinners of note were # 680 James Mallinson and # 34 Leon Jarman. # 91 Phil
Clegg (ex Super Banger driver) won and guess what .. # 91 Phil Clegg blitzed the second heat to take a comfortable win
. There were a few who span out and or pulled onto infield, sadly no
repeat of the Wrennall tussle of earlier. The VERY WET scrappy Stock Car final saw plenty of action with excellent close
racing up front with # 343 Lee Wrennall and # 911 Peter Kaulbarsch in the mix, sadly Peter span out of the race near
Malcolms gate, which seemed a magnet for cars. # 67 Pete Fawcett took the victory. The Grand National, # 680 got
mounted n almost took out Lee Wrennall, # 717 Mark Duckett blasted through on the second to last lap to claim a nice
big trophy for winning, well done to him.
BANGERS
Heat one, very tasty and after a restart for a fire, number # 149 The Duck was bashed and mauled to a pulp, as was # 215
Team Steele's Joycey. There were plenty of spins, nudges and wrecks but # 514 Allan Woods (described as number 2
Invader driver at the Civil War) took the win in a Bluebird, yes a Blubird in unlimited bangers, mind you he was not the only one out there.
. # 478 brought out another red flag in
heat two after a roll, # 139 Mr Vain got creamed into the wall under the rolled 478 car. The restart was a bit of a
buddy buddy rod fest, not too surprising after the last banger meeting, it was good to see Donkey back racing, he said
it felt strange for the first few laps. A win for # 514 Allan Woods again. The final saw action at that magnetic
Malcolm's gate with Chucksy actually attached to the rear of Joyceys car with Chucksys front wheels of the ground. It
was tame apart from that though # 449 Mark Thomas seemed to have an odd shaped rear by the end of the race.
The DD was a very soggy affair, by this time most folks had gone home, but three remained to entertain. # 611 Dave
Stansfield, his team mate # 613 (I think) and # 811. It was not the best DD ever, that said I could hardly see what was
going on due to the rain, and I had no helmet and was not driving a car at 30+ miles an hour. The win was given to #
811. Then we all went home and dried out!
