JNR BANGERS
The day was # 161 Nick Islse-Heardman's winning the final and second heat and only loosing the first heat after a
cooling pipe exploded on the last lap. Despite the conditions there was plenty of speedy close racing, highlights
being # 561 Anthony Nicholson getting followed in, in the second heat, destroying his white Fiesta. The final saw,
the tin of the day, an B reg Lada Estate, driven by Jonny Humphrey, getting followed in creating a Lada wedge.
Thankfully both drivers were OK. Dispite winning the first heat, I guess that # 138 David Kellett was disappointed
by his day, failing to finish in the other two races.
SUPER BANGERS
Pretty tame racing, compared with the seasons action, driver of the day was, amazingly, # 53 Gayboy winning the
final and second heat, in his first Super Banger meeting. The first heat was taken by # 25 Andy Yeats in a supped
up Mini. Gayboy spent that heat spinning and flying onto the infield, while he came to terms with his powerful Capri.
Another new car & driver was # 175 in a smart looking Sierra. In the final, his car launched itself onto the infield
taking out an empty oil drum before coming to rest. # 100 Ann Potts had bought and was racing # 14 John Riley's
championship winning Peugeot, though having little success, going out early in the heats after hitting the outer wall
and failing to finish the final with an engine problem.
WARTON STOCK CARS
Took it very easy in heat one, with the track conditions conspiring against speed. Amazingly the only nasty incident was when
# 911 Peter Kaulbarsch was t-boned in the second heat, after a spin on the start finish line. The race was stopped and
Peter walked away.. The big winner was # 752 Ricki Ball who won both heats and only loosing the final on the last
corner after a nifty nudge n spin from # 343 Lee Wrennall.
BANGERS
The first heat had three starts. The race was stopped after a # 184 (hillbilly) was followed in, folding his one smart looking
sports car to the size of a dog food can. Next halt was due to # 414 Cleggy (Team V) leaping onto the infield and
taking out the tyre next to the far corner marshal in his Jag XJS. The race restarted and Ban Newz driver Gypo Jim
had a double T-bone from Team Vs # 340 Jonathan Atkinson, after he had been taken in by him. The win was another Team
V drivers.. # 69 Smelly. Heat two was quiet by comparison with the win going to Jonathan Atkinson. Darkness started
to descend as the Fianl and DD got underway, there were plenty of hits and eventually only Gypo Jim and Team V were still
going. Gypo, took on Team V showing traces of brilliance, and insanity. Seconds after killing his car after hitting
Jonathan Atkinson, Gypo was followed in hard by Big Al, # 266 Team V, almost rolling Gypos car. No one knew that Gypo
had decided to get out of his car, before Big Al hit him, and Gypo was tossed around like a rag doll. Thankfully, after
a hospital check up, it was revealed that Gypo had only a bruised neck and spine and he also said he should have known
better than undoing his straps in the middle of a DD.
