RULES 2004
ALL DRIVERS RACE AT THEIR OWN RISK
SUPER BANGERS
55. SUPER BANGERS IS A LIMITED CONTACT MOTOR SPORT. THERE WILL BE NO DELIBERATE FENCING, NO FOLLOWING IN AND NO TURNING
INTO AN OVERTAKING CAR. NUDGE AND SPIN ONLY.
56. NEWCOMERS TO THE CLASS ARE ALLOWED TO PAINT BLACK AND WHITE STRIPES ON THE BOOT AND START AT THE BACK FOR A PERIOD OF
THREE MEETINGS OR UNTIL POINTS ARE SCORED. DURING THIS TIME CONTACT FROM AND TO THEM IS TO BE AVOIDED. ROOF COLOURS
WILL BE DEPICTED BY A 4" STRIPE THE FULL WIDTH OF THE CAR ROOF, FRONT AND BACK.
57. NO LIMIT ON MAKE, MODEL OR YEAR OF MANUFACTURE, EXCEPT 4 WHEEL DRIVE IS NOT ALLOWED. LOCKED DIFS ARE OPTIONAL.
58. ANY ENGINE OF ANY CAPACITY OR MODIFICATION IS ALLOWED.
59. ALL INTERNAL FITTINGS, INCLUDING PETROL TANK, MUST BE REMOVED FROM THE CAR, EXCEPT FOR THE DRIVERS SEAT WHICH MUST
BE SECURELY BOLTED OR WELDED TO THE FLOOR AT FOUR POINTS. ALL EXTERIOR FITTINGS MUST BE REMOVED, E.G. HUBCAPS, WHEEL
TRIMS, CHROME STRIPS, DOOR HANDLES, WING AND DOOR MIRRORS, HEADLIGHTS, SIDELIGHTS, REAR LIGHTS, AERIALS AND TOW BARS.
60. ALL CARS MUST BE SEAM WELDED ROUND DOORS AND BOOT.
61. FRONT AND READ LIGHT APERTURES MUST BE COVERED BY PLATE NOT THICKER THAN 14 SWG./2MM EXTENDING ROUND THE CORNERS NOT
MORE THAN 4" PLUS ½" TOLERANCE AND MUST HAVE INSPECTION HOLES CUT IN THEM. IF SMALL PIECES OF PLATE ARE USED THEY MUST
BE BUTT WELDED NOT OVERLAPPED AND WELDED.
62. DRIVERS DOOR MUST BE PROTECTED BY A STEEL PLATE, MINIMUM 14 SWG/2MM. 18" DEEP MAXIMUM 24" DEEP, EXTENDING FROM A
MAXIMUM OF 6" PAST THE FRONT
PILLARS TO 6" BEYOND THE CENTRE PILLAR, SEAM WELDED ALL ROUND.
63. THE ORIGINAL BONNET MUST BE FITTED. ORIGINAL BONNETS CANNOT BE WELDED ON. BONNETS WILL BE UNBOLTED WHEN PRESENTED
FOR SCRUTINEERING.
64. A ROLL CAGE MUST BE FITTED USING A MINIMUM OF 4 POSTS, A LOOP BAR OVER/BEHIND THE DRIVERS HEAD CONNECTED TO 2 BARS
THAT RUN DOWN THE FRONT WINDSCREEN PILLARS TO THE FLOOR. 2 MORE BARS MAY BE FITTED FROM THE TOP OF THE LOOP BAR TO THE
CENTRE OF THE REAR WHEELS TO MAKE A MAXIMUM 6 POST ROLL CAGE. THE LOOP BAR MUST BE MINIMUM 2" SQUARE OR ROUND SECTION.
ONE LONGITUDINAL BAR CAN BE PUT DOWN THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR AT ABOUT HALF WAY UP THE DOOR LINKING THE FRONT
WINDSCREEN PILLAR BAR TO THE LOOP BAR AND ONE BAR AT THE SAME HEIGHT LINKING THE LOOP BAR TO THE 2 BARS THAT GO TO THE
CENTRE BACK AXLE. THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR CAN BE PROTECTED USING CHICKEN BARS AND STILL ONLY ONE BAR FROM THE LOOP BAR TO
THE 2 BARS THAT GO TO THE CENTRE BACK AXLE. 6" SQUARE MAXIMUM FEET ARE ALLOWED FOR THE ROLL CAGE TO SIT ON AND NO BARS
ARE ALLOWED TO RUN ALONG THE FLOOR OF THE CAR LINKING THE ROLL CAGE. ALL ENGINES THAT ARE MOVED OUT OF THE ENGINE BAY
MUST BE COVERED WITH 2mm MINIMUM STEEL SHEET TO PROTECT THE DRIVER FROM ANY ESCAPING FLUID OR ENGINE COMPONENTS. A LIGHT
WEIGHT 1" BOX OR ANGLE FRAME MAY BE USED TO SUPPORT THE 2mm PLATE.
65. IT IS ALLOWED TO EXTEND HORIZONTAL BARS THROUGH TO THE CENTRE LINE OF THE FRONT WHEEL HUBS TO THE TOP OF THE STRUTS IF
FITTED.
66. AT LEAST ONE DIAGONAL OR HORIZONTAL CROSS BRACE MUST BE USED DIRECTLY BEHIND THE SEAT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE LOOP BAR.
67. IT IS PERMISSIBLE TO REPAIR THE FLOOR PAN AND SILLS PROVIDED THAT IT IS WITHIN THE AREA COVERED BY THE ROLL CAGE AND
ALSO REPAIR THE INNER WINGS USING A SINGLE LAYER MAXIMUM 14 SWG/2MM. SHEET STEEL ONLY.
68. WHEEL ARCHES OR NERF BARS ARE NOT ALLOWED, ORIGINAL WINGS ONLY, CONFORMING TO THE ORIGINAL SILHOUETTE.
69. THE FRONT WINGS OF THE CAR MUST BE KEPT AS THEY WERE PRODUCED WELDING THE OUTER WING TO THE INNER WING IS ALLOWED.
INSPECTION HOLES MUST BE DRILLED INTO EITHER THE INNER WING OR OUTER WING. WING LINERS ARE ALLOWED, THE WING MAY BE CUT
BACK FOR EXTRA WHEEL GAP. THE ONLY WELDING OF FRONT WINGS IS TO REPLACE ROTTEN METAL (SEE NO 24). THE REAR WING ARCHES
MAY BE CUT BACK FOR MORE TYRE WHEEL GAP. WHERE THE ARCH IS CUT BACK THE INNER ARCH CAN BE WELDED TO THE OUTER WING USING
14SWG/2MM PLATE BUT MUST NOT OVERLAP THE INNER AND OUTER WING BY MORE THAN 1" PLUS ½ TOLERANCE. NERF BARS ARE NOT ALLOWED.
70. A THREE GALLON MAXIMUM REPLACEMENT PETROL TANK MUST BE SECURELY FITTED INSIDE THE VEHICLE, FITTED WITH AN ON/OFF TAP
CLEARLY MARKED AND WITHIN EASY REACH OF THE DRIVER AND MARSHALS. A BREATHER PIPE MUST BE FITTED, RUNNING BELOW THE BOTTOM
OF THE TANK AND PREFERABLY THROUGH THE FLOOR.
a) THE RADIATOR MAY BE USED INSIDE THE CAR BUT A SOLID SCREEN MUST BE USED BETWEEN THE DRIVER AND THE RADIATOR. STEEL
PIPES MUST BE USED INSIDE THE CAR, WITH ONLY SHORT FLEXIBLE CONNECTIONS TO THE RADIATOR BEING ALLOWED.
71. A STRUT BRACE FRONT AND REAR MAY BE FITTED, BOLTED NOT WELDED. IT IS PERMISSIBLE TO WELD BRACKETS FOR THE STRUT
BRACE BUT THEY MUST ONLY BE
TO THE TOP OF THE STRUT.
72. SUMP GUARDS MAY BE FITTED, BOLTED NOT WELDED.
73. ANY MAKE OR TYPE OF TYRE OR WHEEL MAY BE USED.
74. THE WINDSCREEN APERTURE MUST BE REPLACED WITH MESH ½" SQUARE MAXIMUM. IT IS PERMISSIBLE TO USE CHICKEN WIRE OVER
HEAVY GAUGE MESH.
75. NO BALLAST OF ANY FORM IS PERMITTED.
76. BONNETS MUST HAVE A FIRE HOLE CUT IN THEM.
77. WHEN REPAIRING BODY DAMAGE OR ROTTEN METAL THE DAMAGED PART OF BODY MUST BE CUT OUT AND REPAIRED WITH MAXIMUM
14SWG/2MM STEEL PLATE. THE NEW PLATE MUST NOT OVERLAP THE EDGE OF THE CUT OUT PANEL BY MORE THAN 1" PLUS ½" TOLERANCE.
78. ALL TOWING BRACKETS TO BE REMOVED BEFORE THE PLATING OF THE REAR END. NO TOWING BRACKETS AT ALL.
79. SPARE WHEEL WELLS CAN BE REMOVED AND COVERED USING 14SWG/2MM PLATE. WHERE THIS IS REMOVED THE PLATE CAN ONLY
OVERLAP BY 1" PLUS ½" TOLERANCE. THE FULL BOOT FLOOR CAN NOT BE COVERED IN PLATE.
80. A PLATE - FLOOR PAN CAN BE FABRICATED TO GO FROM THE PEDALS TO THE FRONT MOUNTING OF THE SEAT. THIS IS FOR FOOT
PROTECTION ONLY.
81. OVERLAPPING SHOULD BE ONLY 1". ½" TOLERANCE MEANS ANY MORE THAN 1½" OVERLAP WILL NOT BE ALLOWED.
82. NO NEW MINIS BUILT AFTER THE START OF THE 2005 SEASON WILL BE ALLOWED EXCEPT THOSE BUILT TO SUPER BANGER
SPECIFICATIONS. UNLIMITED MINIS ALREADY BUILT BEFORE THE START OF THE 2005 SEASON - COWCATCHERS FRONT AND REAR TO BE
REMOVED, THE BOX ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE CAR TO BE CUT IN LINE WITH THE CENTRE OF THE WHEELS IN A VERTICAL PLAIN. THE
BOX JOINING THE SUB FRAMES TO REMAIN. THE BOX BEHIND THE DRIVERS SEAT TO REMAIN. A DRIVERS SIDE FLOOR PLATE IN STEEL
MUST BE FITTED. ANY OTHER BOX INSIDE THE CAR SOLELY FOR THE DRIVER'S SAFETY IS ALLOWED. THE FRONT AND REAR OF THE CAR
TO BE COVERED WITH STEEL AS IN SUPER BANGER SPECIFICATION. A 1" BOX FRAME MAY BE USED TO ATTACH STEEL TO AT THE FRONT
OF THE CAR.
