So what the hell happened?? It was so embarrasing!!
Only Team "V" of the Warton regulars had a decent turn out, one Invader and one ex-Invader and Worm to mention a few. Team Motley Krew bravely watched from outside the track, they are not pussys, no infact they are lazy gits :) But more on them later :)
The weather was great and the turnout of spectators was even better! Its a shame that there was little to watch, but what there was was great "Quality not quantity"
It was a great day, considering, but I wondered what Granada TV would make of it "Its great I will come again" "They are all mad, its great" & "This will make a great feature". So dispite being the worst meeting I have seen at Warton, they loved it.. Imagine what they would make of the team meeting, or any normal season meeting :).
There was some awesome material on show, the highlight being Singys' (1969 Thunderbird) with the Hearse of Team V's 340 with a coffin on the top (in TMK colors) Yer gotta laff :)
Heat 1: Only 14 bangers turned out.. Dan Steele was driving 3 Steve Berry's car, then went off the track before the race started.. All heads scratching as to why, we had heard that Mr Berry couldn't race as he was not insured, what with him being a megastar and all that... The race began and we saw a cuffle between I think Hammertime and 294 Will (The Worm) Scott. DAHMBasher 169 span out, he recovered and got span out again by Blooz Boy 205! The red flags were waved to halt the race as 151 had had his car hit, while trying to get out of it. He had caused merryment earlier as he span out as he lined up on the grid, being the only car on the track at the time. This, however, was a serious incident, I wish him well and a speedy recovery from his damaged legs :(
The race restarted and 133 (snapper) got span out in his delicate Jag. It was the end of his days racing. Robbo took a good hit and lost his door skin, as did others :) There was little contact in this leg and 514 Paul (sole Invader) got the win with 205 and 5 Jonathan Clarkson following him to the finish line.
Heat 2: 14 cars again, Dan Steele was in his normal 41 car, but only lasted half a lap after being well stuck in the pit wall, day over. Most of the rest of the feild kept going and that, to our great surprise included Steve Berry in his Grannie (It seemed it was OK for him to race afterall :)) Also still going was Ste Singleton in his Yank Tank and Team V's TMK Hearse. There was two Grannie limos out too.. It was a good field. Damn! The Hearse got gotten by a Leveller and ex-Invader 501 Ste Kaye managed to ground himself in the inner corner wall. Dans wreck got more attention thanks to Singy who pushed another car into it. Team V's Champ 310 John, got stuck in reverse for a while and just escaped the cluches of Singy. Blooz Boy 201 stung Singy and span him into the outerwall. 3 Steve Berry had kept out of trouble, but gained some Team V bodywork under his car. Singy spun out 318 Wilf Speak who the collected the two Blooz Boyz still running.. 3 Ste Berry found a gap and snuck past.. 550 didn't and got stuck. Until, that is the Limo Grannie 310 of John Team V pushed him through. But Singy was on his tail.. Meanwhile 3 Steve Berry stayed out of trouble.. The chequered flag waved.. Who had won ??? It was 3 STEVE BERRY.. He may have said that he raced like Jay "Rodder" Kellett.. But hell he won!!! the camera crew were all jumping around and cheering.. It was a surreal moment.
Consoildation Heat After a long break we were back racing. The Worm was spun out in the first corner and loads of others fell of in support.. It was like the Australian Grand Prix! :) 5 cars were in a wrecked train and a wrecked 728 TDB car escaped. Unlike the Jag XJS of 226 Big Al, who got nailed by Blooz Boy 54! He was later caught and spun out, along with a few others by the Team V hearse. 200 Noon was another Blooz Boy caught by the hearse has he was mullered into the pit corner wall. Now there was only two cars left going.. The hearse and Ste Kaye!! Who would win, did we care? I didn't know and yes! Stes car was spuring water like a right big geezer... He stopped and was nailed by the mighty hearse, no finishers, but the win given to 340 of Team V.
Final- I think) Many cars out for this, inc. 3 Steve Berry.. Would he win again, do we care ? Prob not and I think we do. Cars went everywhere on the start finish straight.. It was chaos on a Warton Scale..Over six cars had to go over the infeild .. oh how I laughed.. 514 Terry Invader Woods was punted out of the way by a Blooz Boy.. 3 Ste Berry was out of the race... Terry had another punt from a Blooz Boy.. The Blooz ladz also got rid of the TMK hating Team V hearse with a great hit into the pit corner wall. Big Al got a big push all around the track before starting another wrecking train, this time on the pit wall. 111 Jeff Pratt was followed in and his nemesis was followed in by that Yank Tank of Singy... the hearse was still moving and trying to cause havoc at the front of this train.. Singy just pulled out and drove on.. The hearse had sustained damage a rear wheel was missing in action. stingy had the run of the track.. Until 501 Ste Kaye did a head on with him and 550 red car rear ended him! 502 Hoagy doored the stricken Singy.. He then had a head on with a blue estae. The last two cars moving were Hoagy and 550. The winner was 550, with 461 and 205 second and third being deemed to have compleated more laps.. Steve Berry was stood next to me when Ste Kaye took on Stingy and was gobsmacked that anyone would even consider a head on.. but against a Yank Tank.. "Mental".
The day was broken up by some banter from TMK, who had taken exception of being called pussys and put a price on my head, for either running me down or throwing me off a cliff! The bounty was Ł20, but it went up too Ł20 and a trophy (Who'd have thought they would have one of them to give away). Anyway it seems I will pay at the next meeting (31st March). I have volenteered ti stand in the middle of the track after the first corner, I would be safe as no TMK driver makes it past the first corner :) :P
Fat Mark of TMK too had taken exception, all because I called him Fat Mark of TMK.. So Fat Mark of TMK, I will never call you Fat Mark of TMK again.. Oi Fat Mark of TMK are you listening to me ?
Anyway that was my thought on the day. Feel free to write your thoughts in the Guestbook & Forum.. I feel that this meeting is going to never be forgotton.
Oh and the lady from Grananda told me it would go on air in six weeks (Tuesday at 7:30PM)
