  • Thanks to all those who turned up to show respect to Shirley today. It was, as is normal a sad occassion, but we all had a smile as we remembered her.

  • The family had requested no flowers, so a few of us decided to take some up to the track on Easter Sunday and place them on the fence outsides 'Shirleys Office'.

  • Ok so time to look forward, our next meeting is on Easter Sunday, with plenty of cars due to race in all classes. Its going to be an odd sort of day, but I'm sure we will get through it.

  • So time to brag about how good your car/paintjob or driving skills are and who you think will win the various championships.

  • Im still having major probs with my PC and can't edit videos, shame though as the MM DD one is one of my best Warton ones EVER!

  • This is one of the saddest post I have had to make.. Im unsure what to write, but I have a duty to inform you the tragic news that our Shirley has passed away. It was peaceful in a chair at home, and I hope pain free.

  • Shirley had been the lynchpin at Warton since day one, and has often given as good as she got to anyone and everyone, including me. She had a great, saucy, sense of humor and was committed to the club like no other, she sat in her hut (an upgrade from her camper van she started in) meeting in meeting out, rain, snow and sun, always there always doing her best (which was ruddy good). She had seen drivers start out as juniors, get older, get married and have their own kids racing. She was one in a trillion, no one could even come close to replacing her, they deffo broke the mold after she was born.

  • She had seen committee members come and go, as well as a stream of Chairmen, she, even at the last committee meeting, had strong opinions on getting the club moving forward and other issues...

  • She was often thought of as part of the furniture and given an hard time by various drivers/parents and spectators, but she would not flinch, Shirley was a friend to me, we often gave each others looks in committee meetings when Norman asked how to spell a word, or Gerald flicking through his little book of stuff he thought we needed to know. Im rambling now, sorry about that, but Im in shock. Please feel free to post your thoughts and condolences in the FORUM not guestbook, ta.

W.S.C.C. will be a darker place

  • I have had a message off Graham asking for all membership enquires and club stuff our end to go through Angela. Other enquires regarding the club can be made to Graham also. Please refrain from contacting Shirleys family at this saddest of times.

  • More updates as I get them.

  • Reet then, we have ad a committee meeting and all is well...

  • The Insurance is FULLY paid up for the season.

  • The rents fully paid too.

  • The new toilets will be finished by Easter, though good comments were received about them at MM.

  • Metal Mania was a success for the club, see above, and 46 bangers turned up.

  • The PRACTICE DAY is March 9th from 10AM til 3PM only £20 per race car to get in and well erm practice.
NOTE : We are hoping to test the Transponder at the track too...

  • TEAM RETARDS - Track Day is the following Sunday, 16th March, and there may be painting to be done (weather permitting) this includes the stripes (right way up if poss) and the cabins. So bring olde clothes and help the club out (NOTE Non Team Retard Members are also welcome to help paint etc). Free food will be supplied!.

  • There will be NO Grand Nationals on Easter Sunday, this is due to the clocks still being on winter time (as Easter is very early this year) and that means that the finals will be the last races of the day for Ministox, Supers, Snr Minis and Stock Cars.

  • Its still £60 to become a Club member, either driver or non racer, this will go up to £75 on April 1st (no joke!)

  • Videos are 'in the can' but my PC won't let em be edited, uploaded or owt, so bear with me!

  • Booking in for WOR is now open. Unlimted Bangers, 2LTr and Jnr Bangers for both Yorks and Lancs required, limited spaces. Im looking at doing an online booking in form, but my PC is so unstable at the moment, it may not happen.

    • As Kylie says WOW WOW WOW WOW!

What a great days racin. Action all around, pile ups a few fires.

    • BANGERS:
Top marks all round.. The heats were action packed, warton crush packed and full of wrecks, racing was hard, as hard as I have ever seen at a Metal Mania. It all seemed good natured too, no bikering no slagging and no fighting... Well over 40 cars raced during the day, very high for Unlimited Bangers and a far cry from the first damp squib that was the original Metal Mania.

    • JUNIOR BANGERS:
Slightly disapointing in numbers, but action a plenty anyway. Loadsa spins, a few hits and wrecks too, well done all of you.

    • STOCK CARS:
Only 8 turned up (OK maybe 9) but there was action, a big lock up with # 512 and # 101 which took an age to untangle. # 330 had and up n down day with wins and tangles, with # 93 and, when # 206 Bobby Dale took his brain out and turned right in front of Greenwood, this gave the 2007 Champion no time to avoid him and a huge T-Bobe occured, thankfully both drivers were unhurt, though Bobbys car was a lil bent!

    • Photos will go up as soon as poss, though it may NOT be tonight due to ongoing PC probs. Ditto for videos, tomorrow hopefully. So bear with me please!

Anyway Metal Mania is over............................ Not long til....
