There are rules on how to build car car and race it here, but this page is a non technical overview of the race classes
There are four main class type racing at Warton.. Ministox, Bangers, Super Bangers and of course Stock Cars.
Below is a list of the various classes, with a brief description, photo and notes on variarions.

Both these classes are driven by 10-16 year olds. The Ministox are a basic Mini engine, with no modifications, apart from
an air intake restrictor. Contact is allowed, but only nudge and spin, putting cars into the wall is not allowed and contact with a car carrying
black & white stripes is also forbidden. A well built Ministox can last a good few years, and some are on their third or forth
drivers, there is also a thriving market in Ministox sales.
For a few meetings in a season the youngster's race in Bangers, these cars are built to the same spec as the adult bangers
but are cars with engine sizes below 1400cc. Normal banger rules apply, but mostly its nudge and spin, that said, there is often
severe damage to cars by the end of the day. Novas, Fiestas and the like are not uncommon.
Many of the junior drivers move on to the other race classes as they reach the age of 17.

This class of racing has come on in leaps and bounds over the last few years, now regularly seeing 20plus cars racing at the
same time, incident and close racing is commonplace. Contact is allowed, though excessive contact (like walling another car or spinning cars) is frowned upon.
The engines are huge and often in the passenger cabin of the welded cars. Light armor is allowed, though most cars only
last a season, or maybe two. This class also features a few lady drivers, who get stuck in with all the other guys on the track.

Two types of Bangers race at Warton:
Unlimited Bangers - Mainly Granada MK IIs and Jags, but we often see rare cars and Yank cars for special meetings, Like
Metal Mainia.
2LTR Bangers - Smaller cars with engines no bigger than 2 Litre, include Volvos, Bluebirds and Ladas, to mention only
a few.
Both these types of bangers have the same rules, follow ins (driving into the rear of a car as it goes into the wall) spinning
and shunting. Wrecks occur every race and these are deemed the crowds favorite class of racing, its often the most exciting.
Though team racing is not really allowed, there are plenty of teams that race bangers like Invaders, TNT, Bad Newz and
Hillbillies along with others (see the banger team section of this site). Cars usually last a meeting, though sometimes half a lap.

Warton is a Stock Car Club, and we obviously race stock cars, again big engines and a full roll cage with a big fin on the roof.
These are the only open wheeled cars we race at Warton, though we do have guest classes racing like F2's. Action is rarely
far away and although pushing is allowed, the cars often get tangled and have bits ripped off..
